Lhasa拉萨英文介绍

Hello everyone, today I want to talk about my hometown—Lhasa.

Lhasa is a 1300 - year - old city. It is located in the southeast of the Tibet Plateau which is the highest place on earth. It is close to the sun, and has more than 3000 sunshine hours throughout the year, as a result also called it “sun city". Lhasa is Tibet's biggest city. Because of the high altitudes in Lhasa, the temperature there is low. There are many high mountains, the top of which is covered by snow all the year round. At the foot of the mountain are prairies, where live a lot of sheep and cattle. Food in Lhasa is mainly beef, mutton and dairy products. The quantity of heat of beef and mutton is very high. It will help the people who live at high altitudes to withstand the cold. Here is an interesting thing, if you go to the homes of herders, you will see dried beef and mutton on the house or tent. And if you go to these families, the host will take out dried meet to call your taste. This kind of flavor can only be tasted in plateau. All kinds of drinks play an important role in the Tibetan food, such as buttered tea, sweet tea, and highland barley wine and so on. Buttered tea and sweet tea is made up of ghee, milk, tea, salt and sugar.Ghee is indispensable to every Tibetan. It is extracted from milk.

It is the New Year auspicious water.People will dance with music in the square. The children set off firecrackers. The whole area will be absorbed in harmonious and peaceful

festive atmosphere. Another important holiday is the Shoton Festival. It will last four or five days. People will eat yogurt during the holiday period.

There are many famous buildings in Lhasa, such as Jokhang temple and the Potala Palace. And you can enjoy a great feast for eyes there, like the Namtso Lake and Lhasa River.

Religious belief in Tibet is the largest difference from other parts of China. Most of people there are buddhists. Because of this, Tibet is the most mysterious place in China as well.

Lhasa is my hometown, where I spent my childhood. What it means to me is more than just a place. Gone as the golden years have, I can still recall these sweet memories which connect so tight with Lhasa. I know these simple words cannot describe how deep my love for Lhasa, for Tibet, but I have to say that I am so proud to be a Tibetan. If I have any chance, I hope I can show you around in Lhasa, I’m sure it will be a terrific trip. That’s all, thank you for your listening.
