东华大学20__-20__学年第__学期期末试题 踏实学习,弘扬正气;诚信做人,诚实考试;作弊可耻,后果自负 College English Achievement Test Band 3(易班) Part I Reading Comprehension (Skimming and Scanning) (10%) Directions: In this part, there is a passage followed by ten statements. You will have 15 minutes to go over the passage quickly and decide whether each of the statements is true or false, or that the information is not given in the passage. Then mark the answer on the Answer Sheet. Renewable Energy How does energy use affect the environment? All forms of electricity generation have some level of environmental impact. However, clean energy technologies, including renewable energy and combined heat and power, have fewer impacts than other sources of electricity generation. To learn about the environmental impacts of electricity generation technologies, click on an energy source below. How clean is the electricity I use? In the United States, electricity is generated in many different ways, with a wide variation in environmental impact. Traditional methods of electricity production contribute to air quality problems and the risk of global climate change. With the advent of electric customer choice, many electricity customers can now choose the source of their electricity. In fact, you might now have the option of choosing cleaner, more environmentally friendly sources of energy. How can I make a difference? The energy decisions we make every day can encourage the development of new power sources, save natural resources, and help ensure that the quality of our environment is preserved. In many parts of the country, consumers now have the opportunity to choose the source of the power that is delivered to their home or business—including energy derived from renewable sources. "Renewable energy" generally refers to electricity supplied from renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power (energy supplied by the sun), geothermal (energy created from the extreme heat contained in liquid rock—called magma(岩浆)—within the Earth's core), hydropower (energy derived from the movement of water as it flows downstream), and various forms of biomass (fuel from sources such as trees, wood and agricultural wastes and fuel crops). These energy sources are considered renewable because they are continuously replenished on the Earth. In addition, mobile sources of air pollution—such as cars, trucks, trains and lawnmowers—also contribute to air pollution nationwide and are an important source of air pollution in many urban areas. Hydrogen Energy Using hydrogen energy could help address many concerns facing our nation and our world. We believe hydrogen can contribute to resolving these issues for these reasons:

A ballad is a folk song, but a folk song is not a ballad until it tells a story. Folk song, then has included many kinds of music. For example, a sailor’s song of the sea is a folk song. The blues(勃鲁斯歌曲), a type of jazz popular in New Orleans, may be a folk song. In fact, there are folk songs for every job. “Home on the Range” shows how a popular song may become a folk song. It was first picked up as a folk song in 1910 by John Lomax in San Antonio, Texas. Lomax heard the song from an old man who had been a cook many years before. The song was known all over the Midwest; thought it did not come to national attention until the early 1930s. By 1947 “Home on the Range” was so popular that it became the official state song of Kansas. 6. A folk song is also a ballad when it _______. 综合英语3试卷解析

综合英语3期末试卷 得分_________ Part Ⅰ Reading Comprehension Passage A Since Insight exposed the U.S. Postal Service’s program “Under the Eagle’s Eye”, the eyes of many privacy advocates have focused like a laser on the agency. “Warning! The post office c ould report YOU as a drug dealer or terrorist,” reads a press release from the Libertarian Party. Until the Postal Service drops its orders to postal clerks to report certain legal financial transactions as “suspicious activity”, the Libertarian Party and others are urging consumers to purchase money orders, wire transfers and cash cards elsewhere. But now Insight has learned that it’s not just purchases of these financial instruments that the post office reports as suspicious. In a training video obtained by Insight, after a jewelry store owner hands a postal clerk $50,000 cash to put on his postage meter, the clerk is told to report this as suspicious transaction. Even though it may be perfectly legal, using this much cash is “strange”, the video says. “If putting a lot of money on your postage meter is a sign of criminal activity, I’m afraid we’re going to have to have a little talk with our own office manager,” says George Getz, spokesman for the Libertarian Party, which uses a postage meter to send mass mailings. “It seems unbelievable. Do you launder money 32 cents at a time? That’s crazy.” According to the Postal Service, even transactions of a few thousand dollars in cash should arouse suspicion. But privacy advocates say it is normal, for instance, for restaurant or store owners who want to send out promotional mailings to go to the post office and put the cash receipts for that day on their postage meters. “Under the Eagle’s Eye” does not apply to purchases of stamps and “philatelic” it ems. But why, then, does the program apply to postage on meters, which is merely “electronic stamps”, asks Rick Merritt, director of Postal Watch. 1) Insight is most probably ________. A) a journal 密 封线内不要 答题
