Try Y our Best, Never Give Up

The toughest obstacle I had to overcome was the time when I could not find a good way to learn mathematics. I derived my enthusiasm towards literature and arts from my parents, but I am poor at calculating and logic inference. Since my elementary school, my score of math has been much lower than that of liberal arts. Interested in language and literature, I spend more time on reading and writing rather than on calculating and thinking. In my high school day, this problem became crucial to me before college entrance examination. If I can balance my study, I will get better results.

I began to change myself; I made every effort to improve it, I spend more time on learning math and doing math exercise one by one and less time on Chinese and English, but it did not work, I still had a lot of problems in my math exams. When the mid-term exam ended, I found that my math did not get improved. The result of that math exam was still bad. At that time, I felt frustrated; it seems that I was such a mess, I did not know how to solve it and what to do next. That night, I walked alone around the playground; I just looked up at the sky. I guess I was hoping for some divine inspiration. It did not come. It sounds kind of like a scene from a movie, because I made a promise that day that if I EVER figured out a way out of my situation, I would share my knowledge with others. I didn’t want anyone to have to suffer the indignation of being frustrated.

What I want to share is, when you feel lost, feel frustrated, feel like walking in a foggy day, please do work hard and INSIST on it, because you are only a few steps away from success.

I calmed down and work harder. I told myself, if what you are doing isn’t working, do something, anything, different from what you’ve been doing before! I communicated with my teachers, friends and classmates, sometimes communication is more effective than doing something alone, I learned a lot from them, they have different idea, different methods, I benefited a lot. Math is not only about calculating but it is a kind of thinking activity, when you are trapped, just try anther way, no matter which way you take, if you arrive at the destination, that is great.

I learn how to overcome my obstacles. Firstly, get to know more about yourself analyze your characters and try to find the reason why you are poor at something. Secondly, work hard. It is common that people are not good at something, but it is also possible to do great job on these things through hard-working and improvement.

Obstacles can actually be a great learning experience. They get my attention and force me to act. Learn how to overcome them is beneficial to me.
