My Point of Genetically-modified Food

Nowadays, with the development of science and technology, transgenic technology has been widely applied to the production and daily life, genetically-modified food has entered people's life. Some people believe that genetically-modified food should be extended while others are against this idea.

In my opinion, every coin has two sides, there are both advantages and disadvantages of genetically-modified food.Let’s talk about its merits. First, cultivating genetically-modified crops can use fewer pesticides, even without pesticides which greatly reduces pesticide hazards on our health. Second, genetically-modified food has nutrients which our own can’t synthesize . Third, genetically-modified food can largely reduce the production cost , increase the food supply and solve the food shortage. However, there are also many disadvantages of genetically-modified food. First of all, the development of genetically-modified food may destroy the balance of nature and threat our environment. In addition, genetically-modified food may have unpredictable biological mutation which could produce new toxins in food. What’s more Genetically-modified food may degrade food components and reduce the nutritional value of food .

All in all , transgenic technology is a double-edged sword, though there are still many defects in genetically-modified food, I think as long

as we can make reasonable use of transgenic technology, then overcome the adverse factors, it will make our life more convenient and comfortable!
