The symbols of success in today’s China
What is success? From the views of broad sense, success means the realization of the value of life. From the views of narrow sense, success means the reaching of the goals. From the views of ordinary customs, success means have work done and recognized, and be successful both in politics and business. From the views of a family, success means let the family lead a better life.
In all, success means that a man makes achievements by his ability, and the achievement gains the recognition of the social. Nowadays, the symbols of success in today’s China, is reputation, status and money. More and more people think that rich should be the most important symbol of success, there haven’t anything can’t do with money, even reputations and status. To a certain extent, of course, it’s also a good thing for the sense of success. There really have someone who doesn’t care about fame and wealth, but really no one wants himself to be completely down and out, become a failure in the actual life.
Goethe said: “Medals and titles can make the person is in the dissension from beaten.” This is the reality. It’s true that the wealth is the symbol of success, but I think it’s only a little part. We should know that environment makes people, whether a man could do the achievement which admitted by society, it’s not wholly decided by the wealth or his
ability, effective, environment, opportunities and many other external factors, sometimes even these external factors plays a decisive role. Only by this, there has the reason that not to decide the success or fail of a hero.
I think if it’s rich enough of the spiritual, then we could gain the success in another way. Success is a social concept, a man direct with himself is not too value of it.
As a student, how can we deal with the success? I think it’s easy. The definition of success to us now is easy, when we accomplish the task that we want to accomplish, when we achieve our goals by our efforts, when we feel that we realize the self value and have sense of achievement. It’s easy and simple. And I think success is not the highest standard to measure the value of life, the more important thing than success is, a man should have rich inner, have his own nature and true interest, have his own love thing to do. As long as you have the things you really love to do, you will feel enrich and sureness in any case. Those who only pursue external successful but in fact there haven’t anything they really like to do, what they like is only fame and wealth, once the fame and fortune field be thwarted, their inner emptiness is completely exposed. So I think, as a student the true meaning of success should be do well the things you really want to do, try to do prefect, and let yourself satisfied. I think it could be the pure joy of success which not mixed utilitarian consideration.
