宾语从句用法

时态:

1. 主句用一般现在时 ,从句可用任意时态。

2. 主句用过去时,从句用过去某个时态。

3. 主句用过去时,从句是客观真理时,只用一般现在时。一、宾语从句的连接词

I. 连接宾语从句的从属连词主要有 that, if, whether.

1. that 引导表示陈述句的宾语从句 , 例如:

He told me that he would go to the college the next year 2. if和 whether 引导表示“是否”的一般疑问句的宾语从句 . 例如:

I don’t know if there will be a bus any more.

Nobody knew whether he could pass the exam.

II. 连接宾语从句的连接代词主要有 who, whom, whose, whichever 等。

Do you know who has won Red Alert game?

Have you determined whichever you should buy, a Motorola or Nokia cell phone?

III. 连接宾语从句的连接副词主要有 : when, where, why, how, whenever 等。例如:

He didn’t tell me when we should meet again.

Could you please tell me how you use the new computer? None of us knows where these new parts can be bought. 二、形容词的宾语从句

常用来引导宾语从句的形容词有 : sure, certain, glad, please, happy, sorry, afraid, satisfied, surprised等。例如:

I am sure I will pass the exam.

I am sorry that I have troubled you so long.

He is glad that Li Ming went to see him when he was ill.

三、 if, whether在宾语从句中的区别

① if和 whether 在作“是否”解时 , 引导宾语从句常放在动词 know ,ask, care wonder等之后 , 介词后一般不用 if 。例如: Please ask if/whether he plans to come to the meeting。

I haven\'t settled the question of whether I'll go back home. ②少数动词 , 如 :leave, put, discuss, doubt后的宾语从句常用 whether. 例如:

We discussed whether we should go there by plane.

③ whether后可以加 or not,但是 if 不可以 . 例如:

I want to know whether it’s a good news or not.

④在不定式前只能用 whether. 例如:

I can’t decide whether to stay.

⑤避免歧异时 , 我们常用 whether 而不用 if. 例如:

Could you tell me whether you know the answer?

四、宾语从句的否定转移

主句的谓语动词是 think, believe, imagine, suppose, consider, expect, fancy, guess 等 , 并且主句的主语是第一人称而且为一般现在时 , 从句的否定词一般要转移到主句上来 . 例如:

I don’t think he will come to my party.

定语从句的用法

定语从句(Attributive Clauses在句中做定语,修饰一个名词或代词,被修饰的名词 , 词组或代词即先行词。定语从句通常出现在先行词之后,由关系词(关系代词或关系副词引出。

关系代词有:who, whom, whose, that, which等。

关系副词有:when, where, why等。

1.由 that 引导的定语从句

一般情况下 that 可指人或物,可以代替 who , whom 和 which , 在从句中作主语或谓语动词的宾语,但不能作介词的宾语。如: Is this the doctor that(whom you talked about yesterday? The letter that (which I received yesterday was from my father . 2.由who , whom 和 whose 引导的定语从句

who 在从句中作主语, whom 作宾语, whose 作定语。如:

This is the thief who stole my bike.

He is the boy whom you wanted to find.

The girl whose mother is a doctor is waiting for you outside.

3.由 which 引导的定语从句

which指物,在从句中作主语或谓语动词的宾语。如:

The book which Mum bought me last week is called “ little women ”.

The house which Lu Xun once lived in is now the Lu Xun Museum.

4.由 where , when 和 why 引导的定语从句

where在从句中作地点状语, when 在从句中作时间状语, why 在从句中作原因状语。如:

I will never forget the day when I joined the League.

He will go back to the school where he studied next week.

I don't know the reason why he quarreled with Zhang Lin.

注意:关系代词在定语从句中作宾语时,关系代词常省去。如: The play (which I watched just now had been on twice on Channel 3.
