Advertisement for Good or Evil

The world that we live in today is dominated by advertising. With the growth of consumer-oriented market, the advertising has changed the attitude toward their auditory. Some of the strategies used to sell a product or service can be considered unethical and unacceptable.

In order to hold existing customers, advertisement often exaggerates the effect of the product. Even though quality of product is too bad, they lie on their advertisement via mass media, such as TV, World Wide Web, cellphone. Advertising isn't about informing consumers but fooling them into believing that consumption of commodities is the only means of attaining true happiness.

Furthermore, Advertising is increasingly invading public spaces, such as schools, which some critics argue is a form of child exploitation. many people believe that the advertising strategy focused on children is morally wrong. This is a particular true for the advertisement showed between cartoons and children-friendly TV's programs. Children are so vulnerable. Parents are forced to buy these products because of their children's constantly requests, badly affecting the relationship between them.

In addition, advertising frequently uses psychological pressure (for example, appealing to feelings of inadequacy) on the intended consumer, which may be harmful. They pander to our desires for things that are

bad for us. They manipulate us into wanting things we don't really need. Many even feel that often, advertisements exploit the desires of a consumer, by making a particular product more appealing, by manipulating the consumer's needs and wants.

All in all, advertisement is surrounding us in every corner. But many aspects of advertising do appear to be morally wrong and are not acceptable in today's society. Therefore a society must properly evaluate the current advertising market. (286 words)
