A dog has memories

One day, Snap left the house when Ada and Henry went to work. It crossed the street to take the bus. The car was going near the Snap, ‘pang!’ Snap lied on the road. The driver got off, then he embraced Snap and shouted, ‘Snap! Snap!’What is the matter with you?’But Snap did not open the eyes. This man lived in the Blossom Street, he is the husband of Kelly’s mother. He went to the hospital with Snap. The doctor said that Snap was safe, but it needed a doctor to look after itself. Everybody who lived in the Blossom Street was upset.

Two days later, Snap awoke. But it did not know anyone, even Ada and Hanry. The children brought lots of photos which reminded Snap that it was the boss of Blossom Street. Ada and Hanry hoped Snap can do anything as usual. If Snap bit or barked to them, they would not reproach it. The old house reminded them of the memory of Snap: they have played with Snap, a reporter has come in their house because Snap can go back to Blossom Street by itself. Kelly’s mother had a good idea.

She said, ‘Everybody tells a story for Snap, and leads it to take a walk on the Blossom Street, but, who will be the first one?’

Ada smiled, ’I think children like to do this job. Hanry and I have to go to work. Can you help me?’

‘Of course I can,’said Kelly’s mother, ‘All the people live in the Blossom Street love Snap.’

Except for Kelly’s mother,Snap barked to the people who wanted to look after it. So she visited Snap every day, they played together and Kelly’s mother fed it. Day after day, Ada, Hanry and other people thought Snap did not think anything about Blossom Street.

On a sunny morning, Kelly’s mother did not find Snap. She was very anxious so she told it to Ada and Hanry, ‘I am so sorry about this. Y our dog, Snap has lost.’

‘Is it true?’ asked Hanry.

Kelly’s mother nodded.

‘Oh, do not worry,’said Ada smiling, ‘let’s find him. I think Snap has not left the

Blossom Street. Don’t you, Hanry?’Then Ada saw Hanry run out of the house as fast as he can.

‘Snap! Where are you?’ Hanry walked and shouted,‘Oh, come here. He walked on the wall to break up the cats.’

‘My Snap!’ Ada shouted, cheerfully, ‘Did you miss us? We are your owner.’

Snap did not say anything. He only jumped into Ada’s big hug.

2016年浙江新高考英语题型解读—概要写作 一、2016年浙江新高考《考试说明》英语写作样题 第二节:概要写作(满分25分) 阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。 Getting rid of dirt, in the opinion of most people, is a good thing. However, there is no thing fixed about attitudes to dirt. In the early 16th century, people thought that dirt on the skin was a means to block o ut disease, as medical opinion had it that washing off dirt with hot water could open up t he skin and let ills in. A particular danger was though to lie in public baths. By 1538, the French king had closed the bath houses in his kingdom. So did the king of England in 15 46. Thus began a long time when the rich and the poor in Europe lived with dirt in a frie ndly way. Henry IV, King of France, was famously dirty. Upon learning that a nobleman h ad taken a bath, the king ordered that, to avoid the attack of disease, the nobleman sho uld not go out. Though the belief in the merit (好处) of dirt was long-lived, dirt has no longer been re garded as a nice neighbor ever since the 18 century. Scientifically speaking, cleaning awa y dirt is good to health. Clean water supply and hand washing are practical means of pre venting disease. Yet, it seems that standards of cleanliness have moved beyond science since World War II. Advertisements repeatedly sell the idea: clothes need to be whiter th an white, cloths ever softer, surfaces to shine. Has the hate for dirt, however, gone too f ar? Attitudes to dirt still differ hugely nowadays. Many first-time parents nervously try to warn their children off touching dirt, which might be responsible for the spread of diseas e. On the contrary, Mary Ruebush, an American immunologist (免疫学家), encourages ch ildren to play in the dirt to build up a strong immune system. And the latter (后者) positi on is gaining some ground. (原创范文,仅供参考) One possible version: People have mixed opinions towards dirt on our skin. (要点 1 ) For a long time in histo ry, people of some European countries, such as France, believed that dirt protected peop le from getting ill. 新版典范英语7(旧版6) 1 第一篇 Walrus Joins In 1What will Walrus do? Everyone at the North Pole was very excited. There was going to be a show and ANYONE could be in it. ‘I will do skating,’ said Arctic Fox. ‘I’m good at that!’ ‘I’ll do tumbling,’ said Polar Bear. ‘No one tumbles quite like me!’ ‘I’ll do singing,’ said Seal. ‘Everyone says I have a very fine voice!’ ‘Then I’ll do diving,’ said Whale. ‘I won a prize for diving at school, you know!’ They all looked at Walrus. ‘What will YOU do?’ they aske d. But Walrus was not good at anything. He wasn’t good at skating, and he wasn’t good at tumbling. He was terrible at singing, and when he tried to dive, he always got water up his nose. He sat and chewed his whiskers sadly. ‘Never mind,’ said Arctic Fox. ‘You can watch us.’ Arctic Fox and Polar Bear and Seal and Whale practised hard for the big show. Walrus hid behind a snowdrift and watched, and chewed his whiskers. He wished he was good at something. 2The big night At last, the big night arrived. Everyone sat down and waited for the show to begin. Walrus sat in the front row. He was very excited. Fox came onto the ice and bowed. Everyone cheered. Then Fox began to skate. Fox skated forwards and backwards and sideways. She skated in perfect circles and figures of eight. She was elegant and amazing! Walrus watched and he loved what he saw. Fox made it all look so easy. Walrus was sure that if he really tried he could skate just like Fox. He couldn’t stop himself. He just had to leap onto the ice and join in with Fox. “I can skate,” he cried. “Look at me!” But Walrus couldn’t skate at all. He could only trip up and fall over. He bumped into Fox, and Fox went flat on her face. FLOMP! Fox was very upset. “Walrus has RUINED my act,” she wailed. Next, it was Polar Bear’s turn. He rolled out across the ice like a big, white snowball. Everyone clapped wildly. Then Polar Bear began to tumble. He did jumps and spins and somersaults, and stood on his head. Walrus watched and he loved what he saw. Polar Bear made it all look such fun. Walrus was sure that this time, if he really tried, he could tumble just like Polar Bear. All of a sudden, Walrus just couldn’t stop himself, and he leaped onto the ice. “I can tumble too,” he cried. “Look at me!” But Walrus couldn’t tumble at all. He could only trip up and fall over. He tripped up Polar Bear, who came down with a WALLOP! Of course, Polar Bear was pretty angry. “Walrus has RUINED my act,” he wailed. 3From bad to worse

高考读后续写训练1. Name________________ It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved clear across the country in pursuit (追寻) of the dreams. There, in the rush of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on his future, and nothing could stop him. Over the phone, his mother told him, “Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral(葬礼)is Wednesday.” Memories flashed(闪现)through his mind like an old newsreel (新闻短片) as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days. “Jack, did you hear me?” “Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It’s been so long since I thought of him. I’m sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago,” Jack said. “Well, he didn’t forget you. Every time I saw him he’d ask how you were doing. He’d reminisce (回忆) about the many days you spent over ‘his side of the fence’ as he put it, ” Mom told him. “I loved that old house he lived in,” Jack said. “You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had a man’s influence (影响) in your life,” she said. “He’s the one who taught me carpentry. I wouldn’t be in this business if it weren’t for him. He spent a lot of time teaching me things that he thought were important. Mom, I’ll be there for the funeral.” Jack said. Busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his hometown. Mr. Belser’s funeral was small and uneventful. He had no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away. The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to see the old house next door one more time, which was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture, every piece of furniture … Jack stopped suddenly. “What’s wrong, Jack?” his Mom asked. “The box is gone,” he said. “What box?” Mom ask ed. “There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he’d ever tell me was ‘the thing I value most’,” Jack said. It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack remembered it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it. “Now I’ll never know what was so valuable to him,” Jack said sadly. 1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右; 2.应使用5个以上短文中标有下划线的关键词语; 3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头已为你写好; 4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。

People had been writing novels for a century—most experts date the first novel to Robinson Crusoe in 1719— but nobody wanted to do it professionally. The steam-powered printing press was still in its early stages; the literacy(识字)rate in England was under 50%. Many works of fiction appeared without the names of the authors, often with something like “By a lady.”Novels, for the most part, were looked upon as silly, immoral, or just plain bad. In 1870, when Dickens died, the world mourned him as its first professional writer and publisher, famous and beloved, who had led an explosion in both the publication of novels and their readership and whose characters—from Oliver Twist to Tiny Tim—were held up as moral touchstones. Today Dickens’ greatness is unchallenged. Removing him from the pantheon(名人堂)of English literature would make about as much senseas the Louvre selling off the Mona Lisa.

He stood up, hugged his parents, and smiled, trying not to let his emotions (情绪)get the better of him. His parents were not quite able to keep theirs under control. They had driven their son several hours out of town to the university where he would soon be living and studying. It was time to say goodbye for now at least. The family hugged and smiled through misty eyes and then laughed. The boy lifted the last bag onto his shoulder, and flashed a bright smile. “I guess this is it,” he said. “I’ll see you back home in a month, okay?” His parents nodded, and they watched as he walked out of sight into the crowds of hundreds of students and parents. The boy’s mother turned to the dog, “Okay, Poppy, time to go back home.” The house seemed quiet as a tomb without the boy living there. All that week, Poppy didn’t seem interested in her dinner, her favorite toy, or even in her daily walk. Her owners were sad too, but they knew their son would be back to visit. Poppy didn’t. They offered the dog some of her favorite peanut butter treats. They even let her sit on the sofa, but the old g irl just wasn’t her usual cheerful self. Her owners started to get worried. “What should we do to cheer Poppy up?” asked Dad. “We’ve tried everything.” “I have an idea, but it might be a little crazy,”smiled Mom. “Without anybody left in the house but us, this place could use a bit of fun. Let’s get a little dog for Poppy. It didn’t take long before they walked through the front door carrying a big box. Poppy welcomed them home as usual but when she saw the box, she stopped.
