Should Children Use Mobile Phone as Early as Possible?

It is not until recent years that mobile phone composes an indispensable part of our modern way of living. Many children soon acquaint themselves with this high technology and it appears that they are encouraged by their parents to use mobile phone as early as possible. However, one controversial topic is whether children should be given mobile phones. Some people think that children should have mobile phones by the safety. But others think that mobile phones affect children' s growth. In my opinion, children should not be used or had a mobile phone too early.

To start with, using mobile phones will affect children' s interpersonal interaction. It can cause children to indulge in the fantasy world and cannot adapt to the reality, growing up without good manners and unable to relate to those around them in a normal way. Mobile phones are a distraction from the real world, having a negative impact on children interacting with those around them. At their earlier age, children are supposed to enjoy outdoor activities instead of clinging to the mobile phone screen.

In addition, using mobile phones will affect children' s study. Children will take their mobile phones to school, but mobile phones are inappropriate in school. They take students’attention away from their lessons to undermining discipline. It's no surprise that the cell phone is ringing in class. Rules about having them turned off in lessons are impossible to enforce, students just put them in silent mode to send message or play games in the back of the class.

Last but not least, using mobile phones in a long time will affect children' s health. In May 2011, the World Health Organization classified the radiation emitted by handsets as ‘possibly carcinogenic’. Because children’ s brains are still developing, any possible damage to them is even more worrying than for adults. Although it has not total scientific proof about this, it is better to play safe than take risks the precautionary principle. The damage, despite not being conclusive, is potentially serious enough to warrant caution and prevent children being unnecessarily exposed.

From what has been discussed above, children should not be used or had a

mobile phone too early. The mobile phone is a Pandora’s Box for children. It is harmful to expose early, not only physically but also intellectually. Although mobile phone has many benefits, they should be used in moderation. After all, everything in life requires a happy balance!
