Jim and Tom are good friends. They are in the same class. Tom is a clever boy. He can answer questions quickly in class, It seems that everything is easy to him. He never seems to work hard. He spend much of his time on football or other games.

Jim is not so clever as Tom. He is slow in his work. But he is hard-working. He works hard and steadily(扎实的) at his lessons day after day.

In the final examination( 期末考试) of the term, everyone thinks Tom will be the first in the class. But it is wrong. The slow but hard-working Jim get the first place.

Although Tom is quick and clever, he do not work hard , so he can not get the first. Jim is just different. He is slow but hard-working. So he do well in his lessons.
