1. Have you ever found yourself completely disgusted by your own performance during a job interview? I have, and it was all my own fault. Here’s my worst job interview experience, along with some of the lessons I’ve learned since.
Several years ago I wanted to be a federal officer. So I applied for several job openings, went through written tests and even managed to get an interview. I was very excited and felt prepared for anything. When I went in for the interview, I felt almost invincible.
That feeling lasted until they started asking me for specific examples of experience, particularly those dealing with teamwork and communication. My job at the time was almost all teamwork, yet, I blanked on examples. I lamely answered those questions by explaining that my previous job required teamwork and communication all the time without any detail. In my experience, most interviewers will ask for a specific example at some point and they wan t to know exactly how you dealt with the issue. You’d better go over some examples concerning your abilities before the interview and this might help you avoid going blank on those questions.
Another question they asked was, “What is your biggest weakness?” I gave the overused,
canned answer of, “I’m a perfectionist, and it’s such a problem.” However, the old “make your weakness sound like strength” trick is clichéd, and failed me miserably. I actually saw one of my interviewers roll his eyes.
Intervi ewers don’t want to hear that you’re a perfectionist. Too many people say that. Here’s how that works: Regardless of the job, think of a skill you have, but aren’t great at, that may be related but not important to the position you’re seeking. Explain how you want to improve and what you’re doing. It shows your desire to grow, along with an understanding that you’re human.
There will always be questions that can rattle you during the job interview, but as long as you are well-prepared and always remain true to yourself, you will find the right job eventually! （10分）

Try to stay calm during your interview. This is easier said than done, I realize, but take your time and remember to breathe. Pause to regroup if necessary and remember to maintain eye contact with your interviewer.

中南大学大学英语水平等级考试大纲 背景： 自1986年以来，中南大学非英语专业的本科生要参加国家大学英语四级考试，成绩合格以后才能获得学位证书。因此学校师生很重视大学英语的教学工作及四级通过率。由于学生的学位证书与国家四级英语成绩挂钩，应试教育也曾占据课堂，学生实际应用英语的能力较弱，毕业后难以应付英语要求较高的外企单位的工作。随着形势的发展，我校根据自己的实际情况，决定从2008级学生开始，学位证书与国家四级成绩脱钩，实行中南大学校内大学英语水平等级考试制度。 我们的思路是高起点，重能力。校内英语水平等级考试参照清华大学、北京大学等重点高校的《大学英语》考试标准，中南大学校内大学英语水平等级考试的目标要高于国家四级考试水平，考试突出测试学生的听说能力，书面表达能力及语言翻译能力等。如今，我校参与国际合作的机会越来越多，学生出国学习的机会也越来越多。如我们有中澳班：本科前两年在国内学习，后两年在澳大利亚学习。部分优秀本科生和研究生也可直接送往国外名牌大学培养。为了满足学生留学的实际需求，适应社会对人才的选拔，实现人才个性化、专业化的培养目标，中南大学校内大学英语水平等级考试的改革势在必行！ 2004年初教育部高教司组织制定并在全国部分高校开始试点《大学英语课程教学要求（试行）》（以下简称《教学要求》）。中南大学是首批试点的180所高校之一。我们实施《教学要求》的规定：“培养学生的英语综合应用能力，特别是听说与写作能力，使他们在今后工作和社会交往中能用英语有效地进行口头和书面的信息交流”。自《教学要求》在我校开始试点以来，广大教师十分关心并积极参加这次改革，在教学模式、教学手段和教材使用等各方面做了许多有益的尝试。参加试点的学生也普遍反映新的教学理念和方法，大大提高了学生学习英语的兴趣，实现了个性化学习，提高了学习的效率。但由于追求四级通过率，学生的语言实际应用能力提高缓慢。 2007年教育部办公厅印发《大学英语课程教学要求》，指出：“大学英语的教学目标是培养学生的英语综合应用能力，特别是听说能力，使他们在今后学习、工作和社会交往中能用英语有效地进行交际，同时增强其自主学习能力，提高综合文化素养，以适应我国社会发展和国际交流的需要。”为此，我们决定开设中南大学大学英语水平等级考试，主要考核学生的英语综合能力，同时也测试学生对词汇、语法结构、词语用法、语用语义等的掌握程度。 中南大学大学英语水平等级考试是一种为教学服务的标准化考试。包括本科生的英语入学考试（便于分级教学），期中英语考试，期末英语考试，毕业英语考试，研究生英语考试，英语口语的机器化考试，英语听力理解考试，均以中南大学大学英语考试题库为根据，随机提取各个等级的考卷。因此，中南大学大学英语水平等级考试的方向是保持考试的科学性、客观性和公正性，使考试最大限度地对大学英语教学产生正面的导向作用。即通过校内大学英语的考试，引导师生正确处理教学与考试的关系，更合理地使考试更好地为教学服务，更快地与国际接轨。中南大学大学英语水平等级考试的目标是更因地制宜地测量我校大学生的英语综合应用能力，尤其是英语听说能力，以体现社会改革开放对大学生英语综合应用能力的要求。由于中南大学大学英语水平等级考试是一个大规模的标准化考试，因此考试的设计需前瞻性与可行性相结合，分步实施，既有近期实施方案，又有中长期规划。 中南大学大学英语水平等级考试是基于大学英语分级教学和真正学分制基础上所采取的重要举措。计分体制和成绩报道方式为：笔试成绩占75%，口试成绩占25%，经过一次考试后，根据不同成绩梯队划分档次，A（优秀80分）、B（良好60分）、C（合格40分）、
