As far back as 700 BC, man has talked about children being cared for by wolves. Romulus and Reruns, founders of ancient Rome, were said to hav e been brought up by wolves. It is believed that when a she-wolf loses he r litter, she tries to find a human baby to take its place.
This seemingly unreasonable idea did not become believable until the nineteenth century when a French doctor actually found a boy wandering i n a forest.
