ABSTRACT (1 page A4 only – if space provided is not enough, extra pages may be attached ):

Introduction

Treating triple jump and its related events as a system, the present study explores into the extreme values of these events and the correlations of their specialty attributes, in an attempt to provide some heuristic guidance for the special attribute training of future triple jumpers Methods

1. To construct of model of Olympic Champions ’ performances by using saturated dynamic non-linear Verhulist modeling method.

Results

1. The extreme values for men’s triple jump, long jump and high jump are 20.68 meters, 10.0534 meters and

2.6314 meters respectively.

2. We take the performances of the triple jump champions as the main factor and that of the related champions as the cofactors, and get the correlation degrees in relation to the long jump, the high jump, the 100-meter dash, and the 110-meter hurdle are 5.0734, 4.8202,

3.4172, and 2.9869 respectively.

Conclusion

1. The limit of the future triple jump obtained by this study is 20.68 meters. This result turns out to be the same as the result published on “Sports Science” (1992) obtained via modeling the world records from 1952 to 1987, which suggests the stability and reliability of the result.

2. The extreme value for long jump and high jump would approach 10.53 meters and 2.728 meters respectively.

3. According to the relational degrees, the most relevant specialty attribute for the future triple jumpers are speed and strength (the long jump), vertical strength (the high jump), speed (100-meter dash), flexibility, speed and strength (110-meter hurdle) in a decreasing order. As is shown, the long jump contributes most of the influence to the triple jump. Therefore, the main training task in the future should be the improvement of athletes’ vertical speed and strength.
