The results can be tested.→The results are testable.

如:edible(可食用的)visible(可见的)sensible(可觉察的)possible(可能的)flexible(易弯曲的)

3.以-nd结尾的动词,将-nd变为-ns再加-ible,如:respond→responsible(有责任的),defend→defensible(能防御的)

如:erase→erasable(可擦掉的),deceive→deceivable(可欺的)

如:deny→de niable(可否认的),rely→reliable(可靠的)

Ⅱ.后缀-ize(-ise)

例如:dramatic(戏剧的)→dramatize(改编成剧本),modern(现代的)→modernize (现代化),organ(组织)→organize(组织起来),civil(文明的)→civilize (使文明,变为文明),system(系统)→s ys- temize(系统化),normal(正常的)→ normalize(使正常化),equal(平等的)→equalize(使平等,使相等)

注意某些以-y结尾的词,加-ize(-ise)后缀时,要去掉-y再加-ize(-ise),例如:sympathy(同情心)→sympathize(同情,表同情)

例如:powerful(有力的)peaceful(和平的)shameful(可耻的)helpful (有帮助的)forgetful(易忘的)

例如:envious (羡慕的;妒嫉的)dangerous(危险的)famous(著名的)barbarous(野蛮的)monstrous(怪异的,畸形的)

例如:trainee(接受训练者)employee(雇员)appointee (受任命者)expellee(被驱逐者)addressee(收件人)toastee(接受祝酒者)detainee(被拘留者)inter- viewee(被采访者)

国者)escapee(逃亡者)embarkee(上船者)meetee(参加会议者)refugee (难民)divorcee(离婚者)

如:advise- advisee(被建议者)invite-invitee(受邀者)retire-retiree(退休者)

Ⅴ.后缀-er,-or,-ar

例如:banker(银行家)teenager(13-19的青少年)actor(男演员)translator(翻译者)governor(总督)scholar(学者)liar(撒谎者)beggar(乞丐)pedlar(小贩)

例如:materialism(唯物主义)optimism(乐观主义)materialist(唯物主义者)naturalist(自然主义者)

例:The hot, humid (潮湿的) air over the ocean causes severe ___49___ thunderstorms.(49可能是形容词,也可能是名词修饰thunderstorms)

c. 限定词(the, this, that, a, my之类)后必有名词

You have to identify the paragraph from which the information is derived"你需要去确认信息是来自于哪一个段落的"。

Since the mid-1970s, the enrollment of overseas students has increased at an annual rate of 3.9 percent.

Over the past three decades the number of students leaving home each year to study abroad has grown at an annual rate of 3.9 percent, from 800,000 in 1975 to 2.5million in 2004.

A series of books, mostly authored by Americans, warned...

A succession of books, mainly by Americans... Sounded the alarm

The Four Treasures of the Study The writing brush, ink stick, ink stone, and paper were requisite treasures in the study of the scholars of ancient China, and they are often referred to as the “Four Treasures of the Study.” The writing brush and ink stick have been used by the Chinese to write and paint since 5,000 years ago. In the Qin Dynasty

(221BC---206BC), people already used feathers of different hardness and bamboo trunks to make brushes. During the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD), man-made ink was used instead of natural ink. After paper was invented by the Chinese, bamboo slips, wooden tablets, brocade and silk, which originally functioned as writing surfaces, gradually faded out. The ink stone was first developed with the use of writing brushes and ink. After the Song Dynasty (960AD---1279AD), the “Four Treasure of the Study” particularly referred to hubi, the writing brush produced in Huzhou, Zhejiang province; huimo, the ink stick produced in Huizhou, Anhui province; xuan paper, a kind of paper produced in Xuanzhou, Anhui province; and duanyan, the ink stone made in Zhaoqing, Guangdong province (Zhaoqing was earlier called Duanzhou). Indeed, the Four Treasures of the Study” have writtin the whole Chinese civilization, as it is.

且看: compress 压缩,镇压(压在一起)《com-=together》 compressible 可压缩的 depress 使沮丧,使萧条(压往下方)《de-=down》 depression 沮丧,不景气(压挤出来)《ex-=out》 express 表达,挤出,快递 expressive 表现的,意味深长的 impress 使印象深刻,铭记(押附心上) 《im-=in-=on》 impressive 留给人印象深刻的 oppress 压抑(对…

例如:reliable(可以依靠的),drinkable(可以饮用的),eatable(可食用的)。 (2)n.+able→adj. 特点的”,如valuable(有价值的),reasonable(有道理的),comfortable(舒适的)。 5.-ian “-ian”与“-an”相同。 例如:instant(instance),distant(distance),important(importance),brilliant(b rilliancy),consta nt(constancy),pleasant。 例如:absent(absence),different(difference),excelle nt(excellence),patient(patience),present(presence). 8.-ar “-ar”意为“…… 性的”,如 popular,particular,regular。 9.-ary “-ary”意为“…… 例如:contrary,necessary,ordinary,prim ary,revolutionary。 connected,discouraged,disappointed,engaged,exc ited,interested,limited,married,pleased,tired,united,used(习惯的),worried,wounded。

例如:reliable(可以依靠的),drinkable (可以饮用的),eatable(可食用的)。 (2)n.+able→adj. 特点的”,如valuable(有价值的),reasonable(有道理的),comfortable (舒适的)。 ◆-ian “-ian”与“-an”相同。

例如:instant(instance),distant(distance),important(importance), brilliant(brilliancy),consta nt(constancy),pleasant。 例如: absent(absence),different(difference),excelle nt(excellence),patient(patience),present(presence). ◆-ar “-ar”意为“…… 性的”,如 popular,particular,regular。 ◆-ary “-ary”意为“…… 例如: contrary,necessary,ordinary,prim ary,revolutionary。 这种形容 词在中学英语中出现很多,有 connected,discouraged,disappointed,engaged,exc ited,interested,limited,married,pleased,tired,united,used (习惯的),worried,wounded。
