Longevity

After reading the passage “ Longevity:the ultimate gender gap”,we all get that women seem to live longer than men in today’s world with reliable health statistics in every country, but why this happens,in reality, the explanation is complex, depending on both biological and behavioral differences between sexes.

From a medical point, doctors are not sure why women live longer, but it is likely that many factors contribute to the gender gap, first,it’s the diet and health care of men and women that makes the difference, because in most cases, women have a healthier diet than men, eating a greater proportional of vegetables and a lower proportion of meat.A more significant factor contributing to longevity is that women care for their health better than men do. So women are much less likely than men to suffer from heart disease, illustrating the variance in life expectancy.

Then it comes to the obesity and stress. Many studies show that men can protect themselves from heart disease through regular exercise. While men are slightly more likely to exercise than women,so abdominal obesity in men is much riskier than low-body obesity in women. What’s more, blaming it on genes and hormones or on societal expections, men are typically more aggressive than women and males assume the risk of hunting while women choose the safer task of gathering.Besides, men pursue more dangerous occupations and hobbies, and often fail to take advantage of social supports.

Apart from those, smoking may also be one of the causes of the longevity gap,and like smoking, alcoholism is a traditional and male problem that is increasingly shared by women. Furthermore,in most human societies, women nearly always assume the responsibility of child rearing. All these cause the ultimate gender gap.But anyway, whether man can live longer or not depends on his attitude towards life,so try to live a wise and healthy life as you want.
