One in four Chinese primary school students say they eat fruit every day, while many students dislike fruit because their parents tell them to eat it. Those are the findings of a report by the Chinese Association. Among 1,500 children in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, they found 28 percent didn’t eat fruit at all, and one in seven did not eat enough. Among the students who didn’t eat fruit every day, 50 percent said it was because they “didn’t have time”. And 40 percent of those who didn’t like fruit said it was because “my parents wanted me to eat”. “Fruit is good for our body. It has many healthy benefits. Mother Teresa was born in Yugoslavia (南斯拉夫) in 1910. She studied at the government school near her home until she was eighteen. At that time, some doctors and nurses from her country were working in India, and they often wrote to her about their work. She decided to join them one day. Last week our class had a parents' meeting. At the meeting, all the parents talked about whether doing a lot of homework at weekends is useful or not. Here is the result. Many parents think that doing much homework is useful. They think the students can review what they have learned by doing a lot of homework. It also helps to improve the students' abilities of working out problems and stop them from playing computer games.
But a few parents think that too much homework is useless. Because doing much homework takes a lot of time and students can not have a good rest. What's more, they can not do what they like, such as playing basketball, listening to music, going to the cinema and so on.
