Bloomberg Certification Program Guide

What is Bloomberg?

Bloomberg is the industry standard for coverage of financial information and economic data around the world.

Bloomberg Training and Certification

Program Eligibility:

All current University of Toronto students are eligible to use the Finance Lab resources including Bloomberg terminals.

Instructions:

Open up Bloomberg and hit (The red key above ). If you do not have a Bloomberg account yet, you have to create your own account first. You can leave the “LOGIN NAME” and “PASSWORD” blank, just hit .

Then follow the instructions and fill in your personal information.

Note: You will need a cell phone to receive a registration confirmation text from Bloomberg.

This password will be used as your login password for your own Bloomberg account. Please make sure to remember this, as you will be required to type it in at the login screen.

If you do not receive a text message within five minutes, please choose “Automated Voice Call”. Bloomberg will call your mobile number and provide you with a validation code using an automated voice message. Once you receive the validation code, please type it in in the next step. (Below)

After the validation, you will receive a login name. Please write it down as it will only appear once.

After logging in with your own account, type in “BU” and hit . You will be directed to the Bloomberg University page.

Please click on “12) View training videos” or type in “12” to gain access to the online training videos.

The training program is divided into two parts: Bloomberg Core and Bloomberg Market Sectors. For the Core training, you have to view all 4 Core Videos before becoming eligible to write the Core exam. Market Sector exams can be taken separately after watching each video.

Once you finish both the Core exam and one Market Sector exam with a score of 75% or higher, you can click 11) Request Your Acknowledgment of Completion. Certificates are based on the market sector you finished. Therefore, you can receive a maximum of four certificates. Note that certificates will be emailed in PDF format.

If you fail an exam, you are eligible to retake it one more time. To do so, please hit twice and speak to a live agent. The agent will help you reset the exam.
