翻译难点分析
a. “转交我公司考虑处理”可译为pass on to us for attention and reply
其中pass on 表示“转交”。
For example: We will pass on your decision to the buyers.
b. “属我公司经营范围”译为:fall within the scope of our business activities /
fall within our business scope
c. 文中“提供”可译为supply, “向某人供应某物”可采用supply sb. with sth. 的结构。
For example: We can supply you with all kinds of
leather shoes.(or:We can supply all kinds of leather shoes to you.)
supplier n.供应商
d. “代理”应译为represent
For example: Our firm is represented in Egypt by
Messrs William Smith & Co.
这个句子也可以用represent的名词形式representative进行翻译:
We have appointed Messrs William Smith & Co as our
representative in Egypt..
e. 为体现翻译的多样化,在本文中“如果”可译为:in case
For example: In case you can make another reduction

例信分析
这封信是中国企业为了进口而向境外商户发出的询盘。一般地,询盘信的正文由三大部分组成:

1)说明询价人的兴趣所在,简单介绍自己的情况并提出写信的目的或请求;/表明收到对方来信
2)明确提出要询问的详细具体信息的,和/或对目的、请求作出解释;
3)谢词和结尾句。对于对方将给予回复的信息表示感谢,并盼早日答复。

翻译难点
1)中文未分段
2)信函中“5月6日”翻译时的位置
3)专业术语“形式发票”的翻译
4)第三个长句的处理

难点处理

1)译文必须分段。分段的依据是具体信函的信息内容以及这类信函的行文惯例。可根据以上所给信函组成部分分作三段或四段,一段一个主要意思。每个部分的习惯表达方式如下:(背诵)

2) 原文第一句中“5月6日”支配着“所寄石化分析和数据管理软件报价单”和“所送的图片册”两个短语,但是英译文不能把dated
May 6放在两个短语的后面。因为图片册或其他宣

传品通常是早就印制好的,其上并无刊行日期,所以dated May
6应当限定brochure。
3)“形式发票”可译为proforma invoice,
它是一种非正式发票,是卖方对潜在的买方报价的一种形式。买方常常需要形式发票,以作为申请进口和批准外汇之用。

4)第三句“我们希望指出,这里市场竞争激烈,要想成功地销售出去,你方报价须具有吸引力,否则将有困难”共有五个分句。汉语可以用四个逗号隔出五个分句来,但英语要用相应的关联词,从字面形式上体现出原句的内在关系来。
