Do We Need Unified School Uniform?

It is not a tide of wearing school uniform in China, but is it true that we don’t need to wear these uniforms? The answer is no.

This is the age of rules. The rules control the whole world, what if we break the rules? There is no doubt that the world will be a mess. It’s the same as schools and many other small groups. So, we can see, schools also need rules. In some way, school uniforms help to form the students. It is a token as school badges, it distinguishes students from other social groups. Then the school structure will be normative and the society will run in rules.

In addition, these uniforms are also a beautiful landscape. And wearing uniforms can also save money, for many students that have not so rich families, it is helpful and considerate. This may help to stop crazing vie with each other, too.

All in all, to wear school uniforms is something meaningful.

Does Economy Outweigh Environment

The rapid development of China’s economy is bringing us more wealth and a richer life. However, with most of the nation’s efforts focused on economic development, environment pollution and damage are destroying our society on the other side. In a word, cost of environment damage outweighs China's economic benefits.

In my opinion, environment protection is as important as economic development, especially for a country that calls for sustainable development.

Recent years, China experienced different types of serious natural disasters, including earthquakes, floods, landslides that took off tens of thousands of lives and caused millions of economic loss. How did these tragedies happen? They were not only “natural” disasters as there were also man-made causes. For example, one of the causes of the Zhouqu mudslide that happened in 2008 was overdevelopment and the

destruction of the forests around Zhouqu for mining and agriculture, causing huge soil losses. The accelerated development of our economy is sacrificing our living environment.

Of course, economic development, which can make our lives better, is important. But on the other side, the quality of our life consists of the wealth we possess and the environment we are living in. When we are striving to accumulate wealth, we still cannot neglect the environment. It is as important as our economy.

Do Colleges Need Unified Study and Rest Timetable?

I really have to say, it’s a terrible decision for universities to dominate students’ spare time. Students never deserve a unified timetable made by the university. Only prisoners and soldiers do. The following are my reasons:

First and most important of all, college students are usually above 18 years old. They are strict adults. At this age, they have the rights to determine what to do and what no to do. Meanwhile, they also have the responsibility to afford the sequence. People might say they are still too young to make such kind of decisions, and tend to make mistakes. Yes, it’s true. But this is exact why we should let them learn to make decisions from just right now. For some mistak e, it’s better to face on 18 than 28!

Secondly, young people need passion. World Cup is a big party once in four years. College student will have only one chance during the whole college time. Missing such a fantastic party will be the biggest regret of their college life. How can our universities make this happens? No, absolutely no!

So, above all, my point of this case is, the universities should never dominate students’ spare time, ever! The benefits will never compensate the losses!

Traditional Chinese Characters or Simplified Chinese

Characters?

It’s hard to say which is better between traditional Chinese characters and simplified Chinese characters, for both of them has its advantages.

The simple form has played a major role since new China was founded. We write faster, read faster and learn faster. These are its artistic and scientific functions. In the information age, the problems of inputting characters into computers and mobile phones must be solved for the purpose of communication. And it makes it easier for school children, workers and peasants to learn to read and write. This can work to improve the level of education and popularize science and technology.

The traditional form is one kind of nation culture, it is of course our nation pride. Unlike the simple form, using the traditional form can avoid ambiguity of sentence meaning. What its most important function is helping us always remember our 5000 history.

But above all, new age needs new form. We always need revolution to suit the fast changing society, or we will be kicked out from the world trend.

The Weakness of the “Strawberry Generation”

Born in a peaceful age without experiencing any troubles, those who born after 80S are thought to be cowardly, timid, fragile, self-abased and having few advantages.

Just like strawberry, which cannot bear great weight because of their soft, the generation we said before dare not take their own responsibilities or face big challenges. For most of them are the only child in home, they seem to be too unmanly and too proud when handle things.

What they ignored is strawberry is also good-looking and well-tasted, though it has many black spots, they look natural and fresh. In fact, the black spots just like the weaknesses of these people. It is normal to have shortages, because of these shortages,

all of us become complete, so there is no need to feel self-abased.

Generally speaking, it is not only their duty to be so lacking of confidence, the family, the society and education are responsible, too. What we need to do is inspire their spirit and encourage them to go on. This is the way benefits both themselves and the society.

The Value of College Education

With the development of economy, the society sink into a dilemma which between develop and talents. We cannot move on without technology and brainpowers, but how can we get more and more useful technical persons? Attending college education is one of the most effective ways.

College life is a period connected with pupilage and internship. In colleges, we can learn more than ever before. On one hand, we can continue to learn what we learnt or learn something new. That is, we can widely increase our knowledge in colleges in order to get a satisfying job. On the other hand, facing schoolmates come from all around China, hearing anecdote, we can open our minds and practice our communicative ability.

College, in some way, is just like a smaller society, college life let us adapt to “social life” in advance, which is helpful for us to make contributions to the society earlier.

All in all, college is a place that can change one’s future and achieve one’s dream. College education is not only essential to the development of China, but important to foster personal ability.
