Good morning my friends,

Before my speech, I’d like you to look at the blackboard, which spelling do you think is right——happyness or happiness. Of course this one. As we can see, there’s an I in happiness. There’s no Y in happiness. It’s an I. So the happiness is in our own hands. My speech today is The Pursuit of Happiness.

There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. Different people have different definitions towards happiness. Personally, a persistent pursuit is happiness no matter success or failure at last.

Happiness is not totally depends on the length of days, the amount of money, or the discretion of position. As soon as you have a persistent pursuit, happiness will come soon. In the books of Confucius, it says: I would not regret dying in the evening provided I would have come to know the truth in the morning. Truth——It’s what Confucius seeks all his life, even if let him dies for it, he still feels happiness inward.

Happiness is a wild flower blooming in the path of pursuit, with you around, as long as you lower the head, you can smell sweet. Because it let you pay sincerely, struggle constantly, then brings you the meaning of life. When you bring back a report from what you’ve pay, or make a little progress from what you’ve done, you’ll discover blessedness.

Happiness has nothing to do with height, appearance and background. One filed Ma Yun, we may all full of reverence. He said that the biggest happiness is chasing ideal, chasing the joy of success. As is known to all, Mr. Ma is neither a good looking man nor a overwhelming lady killer, even no eminent family background. From the three times of failure in the college entrance examination to build up the giant Internet company Alibaba, the hard that he experienced can be imagined. But it is exactly his desire for the ideal clinging that lead to his achievement.

Someone might say, the pursuit of an ideal road is filled with thorns. Yes, of course. For most people, sad pain is inevitable. But, just as not all tears represent sorrow, not all smiles represent joy, for dream, even on thorns don’t feel pain, even with tears don’t feel desolate. It’s also a kind of happiness.

What’s more, the differences among skill color, ethnic, degree or some other factors can’t stop you to pursue happiness. In our class, I think almost everyone watched the famous movie——The Pursuit of Happiness. The main character is the black investment expert Chris Gardner who finds his happiness from a bankruptcy, single salesman to a successful investment expert. In the film, the hero told his son: you got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. In fact, many of us just care about the joy of success, and ignore that the truth of happiness is not the final result but the process you insist.

Here comes a story. Someone once asked three people what they were doing.

The first said, lying bricks.

The second one said, making wage.

The third said, building the most distinctive house in the world. After a few years, the third person became a famous architect. He insists on his pursuit and eventually finds his happiness. I hope and believe that we are all able to be a life engineer to build our happiness house only if we have a persistent pursuit of happiness. My dear friends, when happiness knocks at the door, please hold it, and don’t let it slip away easily.
