WABCO Specification

It is specified in the order which type of sampling is required.

A positive Sample Inspection Report prepared for design samples (section 4.1.1) does not involve a series release.

4.1.1 Design samples (prototypes)

Design samples have to be made available in accordance with the order. They can be used to test the function and endurance of the parts.

4.1.2 Initial samples for series production

For every starting series production, initial sampling according to the WABCO order has to be carried out.

5 Regulations concerning the design

The design of the parts has to be made according to the drawing and, if applicable, Part

Specification respectively. If the drawing does not contain any particular indications, the regulations defined in this specification are to be kept to.

5.1 Dimensions

According to the individual material and manufacturing process, the following WABCO specifications apply to dimensions without tolerances:

For standard parts, semi-standard parts and semifinished products which are not mentioned in the table above, the tolerances (of dimension, form and position) are defined in the relevant Product Standard. If deviating tolerance qualities are required, they shall be indicated on the drawing.

The tolerance class …medium“ to ISO 965 applies to threads, i.e. tolerance quality 6H for nuts and 6g for screws. If deviating tolerance qualities are required, they shall be indicated in the drawing.

For parts with surface protection, the WABCO drawing indicates the required final dimensions including surface protection.

5.2 Surface structure

All parts supplied have to be clean, free from burrs and chips and free from deformations and surface defects as for instance pores, damages, bubbles, cracks, defects etc. In particular, hair chips have to be removed.

5.3 Marking of components

Components have to be marked in accordance with the prescriptions defined in the drawing.

5.4 Subsequent treatment

Subsequent treatment, as for instance heat treatment, which has to be performed by the supplier is bindingly prescribed by indication on the drawing or in the pertaining Part Specification.

6 Corrosion prevention

Above all, the parts have to be supplied without any traces of corrosion. A sufficient temporary corrosion protection has to be applied according to the requirement in the WABCO packaging instruction. The type of conservation has to be agreed upon with WABCO.
