My View On Driving Restrictions in Big Cities

Traffic jams are very commonly-seen in big cities, and a big headache for the citizens. In rush hours, endless cars get stuck on the road and the whole city is like a huge parking lot.

The driving restrictions, therefore are put forward to alleviate the traffic problems in big cities. By implementing driving restrictions, around half of the private cars can be reduced from the road, which will help decrease the possibility of traffic jams.

I believe that the driving restriction can be effective, but it is not the only way out. If the car ownership is increasing continuously, this policy will have limited effects. So the government should look at other areas to address the traffic problem, including reasonable road design, and encouragement of the public using public transport system.

Never Overprotect the Children

In the picture, a little boy is walking in the rain. His mother is holding an umbrella for him. Likewise, his father is holding an umbrella for his mother and his grandmother for his father. His grandfather is coming up to join them. Obviously, the picture is to highlight the overprotective behaviors of family towards children and harms they may cause.

In my opinion, parents should leave some rooms for kids to experience and take charge. Although it is quite understandable that parents want their kids to be safe and sound, it is not beneficial to the kids’ development and growth. Kids are flowers that need to be weathered to get stronger and survive subsequent storms. If parents build a carefree and trouble-free fantasy for their children, they will not grow into independent individuals, capable of handling various difficulties in life.

In short, it is advisable that parents know the importance of letting go and launching children on the journey to independence. Anyway, the wild world is the destination for them when they grow up.

Will Tourism Bring Harm to the Environment?

In recent years, China has witnessed rapid growth in tourism. Many are concerned that too much tourism may cause grave harm to the environment. And I can’t too agree to their view.

There are many ways in which tourism brings about bad effects to the environment. One of the examples is that in order attract tourists, large patches of woods were eliminated to build accommodation facilities as well as artificial scenic spots. Worse still, it breaks the ecological balance of these areas, resulting in the shortage of farm land, water and animals. Moreover, with large number of tourists flooding into the scenic spots every year, they have produced all kinds of garbage everywhere, placing much pressure on environment protection.

All in all, too much tourism brings harm to the environment in many ways. So it is unwise to sacrifice the environment for the unreasonably rapid growth of tourism, and there should be a balance between tourism development and environment protection.

On China’s Netizen Population

As the bar chart shows, the number of Internet users in China has been on the rise ever since the year of 2005. Between the year of 2005 and 2012, the number of Internet users has increased from 91 million to 338 million , which means that the coverage rate of Internet access has increased from 85%to

25.5%.

I think there are two reasons contributing to the above results. First, the advanced technology has made computers and Internet access more affordable to ordinary people. In the late 1990s, it costs us a fortune to purchase a computer while almost every household in cities can afford one now as the mature technologies have made computers much cheaper. Second, Internet application in various sectors promises us a much convenient and effective communication. For instance, the train-ticket online booking system is now available to the public. This saves hours of waiting in now available to the public. This saves hours of waiting in the queue and enables citizens to purchase the ticket anytime and anywhere.

To sum up, since the computers has become affordable and the Internet is convenient, China’s netizen population grows

God Help Those Who Help Themselves

“God helps those who help themselves” is a proverb full of logic and wisdom, which tells us that our fate is decided by ourselves rather than by God or others. Only when standing on our own feet could we survive hardships for a life-long time .

The famous British physicist Hawking is a typical example. Although he suffers from severe disease, he has never abandoned himself and refuses to be depent on others. Counting on his own effects, he carried on his study and has made great achievements.

Another example is the athletes participating in National Games of Disabled. They cherish the importance of self-reliance and are rewarded.

All in all, many examples can prove the truth indicated in this proverb——it is self-dependence that helps us withstand storms.
