students in Peking University in Beijing, capital of China, Nov. 10, 2010.(Xinhua/Xie Huanchi)

"We want a stronger relationship with China. Stronger on tr ade, investment and dialogue," said Camer on while delivering a speec h in Peking University.

While str essing the importanc e of tr ade, he said the gr eat thing about the bilater al r elationship is that it is not just confined to ec onomic inter action.

"We have high-level dialogues on br oad issues. We have a dialogue on str ategic issues where we can talk about the pr oblems of the world and a dialogue on tr ade and investment. I think it is important that we talk about all these issues and that we try to under stand each other's values and inter ests. That's the way our r elationship works and it works well," the prime m inister said.

During Camer on's visit, the two c ountries held sever al high-level dialogues on financ e, educ ation and energy. Camer on said he hopes China's fast development will drive c ompr ehensive cooper ation between the two countries.

"In the argument about how to see the rise of China, I say that it is an opportunity. I choose engagement not disengagement, dialogue not standoff, mutual benefit not zer o-sum game, partner ship, not pr otectionism," he said.

On his first visit to China sinc e taking offic e in May, Camer on br ought with him a delegation of historic sc ale. It included 50 British entrepr eneur s eager to find opportunities in China's fast gr owing econom y.

On Tuesday evening, Chinese Pr em ier Wen Jiabao had an hour-long colloquium with the entr epr eneur s after his talks with Camer on. Wen said China welc omes the entr epr eneur s' expanded c ooperation with the c ountry.

"As China gets richer, it does not mean that the r est of the world will get poor er. It is simply not true that as China rises again, the world's other nations decline. Globaliza tion is not a zer o-sum game," Camer on said.

Camer on also said Britain and China shar e c ommon inter ests in many fields, including in fighting pr otectionism and in enhancing China's integr ation into the world ec onomy.

动词: aid=assist(帮助,援助) alter=change or modify(改变) ask=inquire(询问)

assail=denounce(谴责) axe=dismiss or reduce(解雇,减少) ban=prohibit or forbid(禁止) bar=prevent(防止,阻止) bare=expose or reveal(暴露,揭露) blast=explode(爆炸) begin=commence(开始) bid=attempt(努力) bilk=cheat(欺骗) bolt=desert or abandon(放弃) boost=increase, promote ,push forward(增加,提高) check=examine(检查) claim=cause the death of ...(夺去……的生命) clash=disagree strongly(发生分歧,争议) curb=control or restrict(控制) dip=decline or decrease(下降) ease=lessen(减轻,缓和) end=terminate(结束,中止) flay=criticize(批评)
