The best cook I know is one of my friends. We got to know each other about 2 years ago, and I got to know him from a birthday party of my friend. From then on, he always invites us to enjoy the food he cooks. He is good at cooking all kinds of food, like spicy food, salty food and sour food. Whenever we go to his home, he will ask us first what kind of food that we like. He told us that he had never been to the cooking school, and he learned to cook by himself. We think that he has a gift on cooking. Sometimes we go to some famous restaurants together, and if we like a dish, he will try cooking it at home and the taste is exactly the same. I often go to his home on weekends to enjoy the delicacy, and now I become really picky. I don’t like the food cooked by others. I told him that my appetite was spoiled. The first time I heard the lovely song is when I was about 8 up to when I was 10 maybe, in my primary school.I don’t remember the exact name of that childhood song already, but I still remember the lyrics and melody of that song. "Bats in the belfries, owls in the trees, cats in the cornfields, ghosts in the breeze, go trick or treating th en it’s all done. Halloween’s over, but wasn’t it fun?" As the lyrics written in the song, it is about Halloween. Halloween swept in China and people got to know it since then, everyone thought it was interesting because people wore costumes during the holiday and there is no such a holiday in China. So, with curiosity, like every child, when I heard this song, I think Halloween is mysterious and funny. There are bats, owls, cats and ghosts. Moreover, the melody is cheerful in a merry mood, so we always sang that song at the top of our lungs. It was amazing.

For me, the place with all of colors is museum. I can see numerous (非常多的，plenty of) things in

museums, such as paintings, sculptures, ceramics and jewelries. And the most famous museum in the world must be the Louvre Museum in Paris. I went there last Christmas, when I was travelling alone in Europe. The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, originally built as a fortress (堡垒，bastion)in the late 12th century under Philip II. Remnants (残余，Remains)of the fortress are still visible in the basement of the museum. When I was walking inside the gallery, I can touch the breath of endless human history. It contains more than 380,000 objects and displays 35,000 works of art in eight curatorial departments. My favorite part is the decorative arts, which spans (跨越，steps over) the time from the Middle Ages tothe mid-19th century. The ceramics, enamels and stained glass left me with a deep impression. I loved the clash of bright and beautiful colors, which would not fade (褪色消失，vanish)even in a thousand years’time. When you walked into the jewelries part, every woman would scream happily. The glittery (闪烁的，gleaming)diamonds and delicate (复杂精巧的，intricate) designs showed the intelligence of ancient people. I stayed in Louvre Museum for almost a day because it was too large to go through. It helped me achieve my dream of seeing so many beautiful meaningful collections, and I felt really happy. Besides, the best part is, it is free for all youths under 25 years old! I felt so lucky to be a European student under 25!

I left home for Beijing last year because I was accepted to a Beijing Normal University. At that ti me, I was very nervous because I had no friends or relatives there.
