In recent years Chinese animation films and series are trying to break new ground. Yet compared to foreign counterparts, Chinese animation still has a long way to go. Here are four new popular series made in China.
Lingjian Mountain
Animation series Lingjian Mountain was adapted from an online Chinese novel of the same name. The series tell the story of a boy named Wang Lu and his adventures on his way to be a powerful prince. Bearing a strong resemblance to Japanese animation, the series was adapted by two companies from China and Japan and was also broadcast in both countries. Year Hare Affair

The author tells the contemporary Chinese history through a group of cute rabbits in uniforms who symbolize the People's Liberation Army, and images of other animals. Sometimes, these animals would talk with a dialect that sounds funnier than simply using Mandarin. The series got 8.5 points out of 10 on Douban.
Little Monk Yichan
This is another touching series about a seven-year old monk Yichan, and his master Adou's daily lives. Premiered in 2016, the series had its episode 35 broadcastrecently. Each episode focuses on a certain topic, including family, romance and friendship. Despite telling stories from the perspective of a child, the series targets adults and aims to provide some "chicken soup" to let audiences learn to be tolerant and give more love to others.The animation got 9.5 points out of 10 on Douban.
Hua Jiang Hu
Premiered in 2014, the series has had four seasons. The story is based on Chinese history during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-960), when there were continuous wars and fights among many small kingdoms. The series got an average of 7.9 points out of 10 on Douban. To those who fancy historical stories, the animation provides another way to learn Chinese history. Yet the series doesn't pay too much attention to historical details.

Electric devices can seem like a “third party” in some relationships because some partners spent more time on them than with each other.
When Amanda Gao, a 26-year-old white collar worker in Beijing, went to a hotpot
restaurant with her boyfriend on Friday night several weeks ago, she expected that they would have a good time together. To her disappointment, however, it did not turn out that later. As soon as they were led to their seats and she began to order dishes, he buried himself in his mobile phone.

Lin said she knew of some people who suggest that electronics should be kept out of bedrooms, which she considered challenging and hard to be put into practice for most couples. The secret to a better cup of morning coffee might simply be choosing the right colored coffee mug (杯).
The color of a coffee mug can have something to do with the way coffee tastes, according to a recent study, which was conducted in Australia and tested the influence that three different colored mugs — one white, one blue and one clear glass, had on the perception (感知) of different tastes. The researchers served 18 participants the same cup of coffee, in one of the three similarly shaped but differently colored containers, and then asked them to rate their sweetness, smell, bitterness, quality and acceptability.
It turns out specifically that the white mug was associated with a more intense (浓) or bitter tasting cup of coffee, and the clear glass mug was not. The blue mug, meanwhile, proved to be "kind of an in-between." The opposite was true for perceived sweetness —participants noted less sweetness when drinking from the white mug than they did when drinking from both the blue and clear glass mugs.
Research published this year shows that the color of a plate had a clear effect on taste intensity and sweetness. And the color red specifically has even been associated with lower levels of consumption.
A red strawberry looks redder when placed against a white plate than it does against a black one. And there are associations with that redness that in turn can
affect taste, Spence explains. "Red might indicate heightened sweetness, because red fruits tend to be riper than green fruits," he said. And that indication can be enough to cause a large difference in taste.
In the case of coffee, specifically, the researchers believe that the color brown might be something people associate with bitterness. "The white mug may have influenced the perceived brownness of the coffee and this, in turn, may have influenced the perceived intensity and sweetness of the coffee," the researchers wrote. That would help explain why clear coffee mugs tended to have the opposite effect.
