The Lantern Festival(元宵节) falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, usually in February or March. As early as the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC－25 AD) , it had become a festival with great meaning. Yuanxiao is the special food for the Lantern Festival. It is believed that Yuanxiao is named after a palace maid(宫女), Yuan Xiao, of Emperor Wudi of the Han Dynasty.
