Step 1 Warming up

1. 播放学生志愿者进行义务帮助别人的活动视频,通过询问他们以下问题来引导学生们了解

Step 1 Listening

1. T: Tell Ss to read the sentences in the chart. Make sure they know the meaning of the sentences.

2. 1b. Play the recording for the Ss to listen and number the ways the boy and girl could help others.

Step 2 Pair work

1. Let Ss read the conversation in the picture.

2. 1c. Use the information in the chart of 1b to make other conversations.

1. from River High School 为介词短语作后置修饰语,翻译时应提前。

to help others 作目的状语。是“每周拿出几个小时”的目的。

2. help sb (to) do sth. 帮助某人做某事;help后的不定式符号to,可以省略。

3. want to do sth. 想要做某事。to 不定式做want的宾语。

相当于:特殊疑问词+ to 不定式,构成复合不定式结构。(how he could care for animals).

e.g. They don’t know where to build the new house.

=They don’t know where they can build the new house.

4.decide to do sth. 决定去做某事;to不定式做宾语。

Step 3 Grammar focus

1. 阅读Grammar Focus中的句子,然后做填空练习。

2. 学生们根据记忆,看大屏幕来完成填空练习。

3. 学生们完成填空试题后,可以打开课本检查答案,对错误的句子,单独进行强化记忆。

Step 4 动词不定式用法小结:

1. 做动词宾语。常见动词有would like, want, help, learn, hope, decide, volunteer。

2. 作宾语补足语。常见动词有ask, want, tell, invite, like, hate。

3. 作目的状语。e.g. Jack turned his head around to look at people.

4. 作后置定语。e.g. Claire missed a great chance to make a lot of money.

5 . 动词help及一些役使动词后面常省略to。

1. sick adj. 生病的;有病的;辨析:sick 与ill sick 可作定语修饰名词,而ill只能做表语。

1. 4a: Fill in the blanks with the phrasal verbs in the box.

1) Tell Ss to read the sentences in 4a and try to fill in the blanks with the phrasal verbs

2) 方法指导:首先,先阅读所给的词组,明确每个词组的意思。其次,通读全句,理解大意;

2. 4b: Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the verbs in the box.

1. Ask one student read the phrases and the nouns. Tell Ss to match the phrasal verbs with the nouns. Then make sentences with the phrases.

2. Let some Ss come to the blackboard and write down their sentences.

Step 4 Listening

Work on 1c and 1d: 1. Tell Ss to look at the pictures in 1c and 1d. Tell them the boy in the pictures is Jimmy. What is he doing now? Listen to the tapes and number the pictures.

2. Play the recording for the Ss. Ss just listen for the first time.

Step 5 Role-play

1. Work in pairs. Role-play a conversation between Jimmy and the reporter. Use the information in 1c and 1d.

2. Let two students make a model for the Ss.

3. Ss practice their conversations

4. Teacher can walk around the classroom, and give some help to the Ss.

1. Tell Ss to read the short passage and fill in the blanks with the appropriate phrasal verbs or infinitives.

2. Tell Ss should try to read the short article first and try to know the main meaning. Then read carefully and try to understand the meaning of each blanks.
