Installing and Configuring the SAP Web SAPConsole:

1. First, on the system which will act as the Web SAPConsole web server, make sure the SAP Console option was installed along with the any other components of the SAP GUI.

2. After the SAP Frontend installation, launch the SAP Logon Pad (saplogon.exe not saplgpad.exe)

or

But NOT

3. On the SAP Logon, click the Groups… button to add a new entry to the logon pad. Enter the relevant System ID, message server and, if necessarry, SAProuter and click the Generate List button.

Select the appropriate logon group (maintained in transaction SMLG in the SAP system) and click Add.

4. Change the description to something meaningful, and finally, click Add again to add the entry to the logon pad.

Entries required by the SAP logon pad in some file, such as

C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\services, may need to be maintained before a required entry can be added to the logon pad.

By maintaining the entry in the SAP Logon pad, information used by SAP GUI (and the Web SAPConsole) to connect to SAP systems is written to the file C:\WINDOWS\saplogon.ini (or C:\WINNT on Win2K).

5. Now, launch the SAPConsole Administrator from the control panel

6. Any existing SAPConsole profiles are displayed in the left-hand pane

of the SAPConsole administrator. To add a new entry, right-click in the left-hand pane, and select Create New from the context menu

7. Give the profile a meaningful name, and click OK

8. The profile will be added to the list in the left-hand pane. Select

the newly added profile, and in the details window on the right, selct the SAPLogon Selection checkbox

9. In the System Description field, choose the newly created entry from the list of choices.

Finally, maintain the transaction code that will be executed by calling this profile from a browser.

Click the Apply button to save your changes.

10. If desired, a default entry can be selected from the list of profiles by right-clicking on a profile and selecting Set As Default. The default entry is the profile used if no profile is entered in the URL of the Web SAPConsole

Now… I didn’t configure this part, but…

11. Now, Microsoft’s Internet Information Services needs to be configured so that the Web SAPConsole is accessible via a web browser. Launch the IIS Admin utility.

In IISAdmin, right-click on the default web site and choose to add a new Virtual Directory

12. Use the wizard to assist in creating a new virtual directory

Give the new virtual directory a meaningful alias

The target folder for the virtual directory should be the websapconsole folder of the SAP GUI installation directory

For permissions, allow Read, Run scripts (probably not actually needed) and Execute (the Web SAPConsole is a ISAPI application).

Click Finish to close the wizard, and the setup is complete

Now the profiles that are maintained with the SAPConsole administrator can be called via URL from any browser on the network. The URL for the Web SAPConsole takes the form:

http:////isapi_sapcnsl.dll?p=
