第30卷第2期2009年4月 衡阳师范学院学报 Journal o f Hengy ang N o rmal U niv ersity N o.2V o l.30 A pr.2009英语词汇教学策略研究 刘 韬 (肇庆医学高等专科学校,广东肇庆 526020) 摘 要:近年来外语词汇教学在国内外越来越受重视,但目前我国英语课堂词汇教学仍然存在教学手段传统单一,教学效果欠佳等诸多问题。“词汇组块”策略、“造句”策略丰富了传统的词汇教学手段,能有效提高词汇教学质量。 关键词:词汇教学;“词汇组块”策略;“造句”策略 中图分类号:H31文献标识码:A文章编号:1673—0313(2009)02—0124—04 一、词汇教学的重要性 经过语言学、社会语言学和心理语言学几十年的研究,目前国内外不少研究者已达成共识,认为外语习得的基础是词汇习得,习得足够多的词汇是语言问题的核心[1],词汇教学法从而成为英语教学研究领域的新理念。根据词汇教学法的理论,在学习和应用语言时,词汇是第一位的,语法只是起辅助作用。语言意义的产生和理解主要通过词汇组合而不是靠语法结构来完成,其原因在于“语言是由语法化的词汇组成,而不是词汇化的语法组成”[2],因此词汇教学越来越凸现其重要性。近年来我国学者对词汇教学研究的关注越来越高,他们从不同视角对词汇教学及其相关问题进行了研究。吴世雄、黄冬芳等人各自从认知心理学的角度,梁晓波、谷小娟等人从认知语言学的角度,刘丽萍、刘强等人从语义学、语体学及语用学的角度,束定芳、吴利琴等从跨文化交际学的角度,冯跃进、濮建忠等从语料库和英语词汇教学的关系的角度都对词汇教学进行了深入探讨。 二、词汇教学现状 长期以来,传统教学法一直强调语法教学,忽略词汇教学,直到20世纪70和80年代之交教学法的兴起和广泛运用,词汇教学才受到普遍重视。因此,即使在词汇教学倍受重视的今天,我国的英语课堂教学中,教法仍千篇一律,词汇教学往往只是在讲解课文时伴随语言点的教学进行,教师多依据教参或词典上提供的例句,通过罗列例句、翻译例句、分析例句来讲解生词,帮助学生理解生词。这种教法实质仍是传统的语法翻译教学法。这样教授词汇没有侧重点,没有针对性,内容空洞,学生常会感到似懂非懂,在语言的实际应用中莫衷一是、错误百出。例如在通过罗列例句讲解生词publish后,学生仍然不知在题目(例1)The new spaper is(published/distrib-uted)in tw o editions.中该选哪个词,他们普遍认为两词此时没有区别。给出正确答案published之后,仍觉费解。可见目前英语课堂中的词汇教学仍缺乏有效的方法和手段,效果不佳。那么像例1中出现的问题究竟该如何解决呢?笔者认为采取“词 收稿日期:2009—01—10 作者简介:刘韬(1970—),女,湖南长沙人,讲师,从事英语语言学研究。124 DOI:10.13914/https://www.wendangku.net/doc/2f3743275.html, https://www.wendangku.net/doc/2f3743275.html,43-1453/z.2009.02.027
