―Practice makes perfect‖ was an old saying. It tells us that it does not any matter if we are slow at doing something. As long as we keep on trying and practice, we’ll do a good job at the end. The saying is especial useful in English study. Since a student is poor at speaking, he should catch every chance to open mouth and speak English. His oral English may be excellent one day as a result of his hard works. Not only is the saying useful in English study, but it is helpful in our daily life as well. To some degree, it is no easy way in doing anything since the key to succeed lies in ―Practice makes perfect‖.

To tell you the truth, I’ve thought a lot about if you should buy a laptop computer to help you

for your study. In my opinion, you’d better not. For one reason, it’s easily for you to develop some bad habits once you have it, such as playing computer game, seeing movies and so on, which will be a waste time. For other reason, buying a laptop computer don’t mean you can study well. If you want to make a progress, you need to be devote and work hard. Whether you had a computer or not is not that important.

I watch TV until nearly 12 o clock, so I could not go over my lessons. This morning I got up very late that I had to hurry to school without breakfast. Yet I was late of the first class. When I entered into the classroom, the maths teacher had to stop explaining an important problem, and all the eye were fixed upon me. My face turned red. Something even worse happened to me in the English class. The teacher asked me to recite the text, so I could speak nothing but sorry, for I did not spend any time preparing my lessons. The teacher looked at me with his coldly eyes. I stood at my bench without dare to raise my head. What terrible day I had! I will never do anything like this.

The day before the speech contest English teacher talked to me. She said that she and my schoolmate all wished me success, but it didn't matter that I would win or not. When I was on the stage the next day, I felt so nervous as I shook like a leaf. There were so much people present! Suddenly, I caught a sight of my English teacher in the crowd. She was smiling but nodding at me.

I remembered her words and calm down. I did a good job and won the first prize. Now my picture and the prize is hanging in the library. Whenever I see them I will think of my English teacher.

Anita Mei was a very famous pop singer in Hong Kong. Together with her mother, she began to perform in the age of four.
