Culture and Customs

As we all know, the culture and customs of a country are part of the country's spirit. It's certainly true that different countries have their local customs. That is to say, it is necessary to accustom yourself to the culture no matter where you go.

Culture is not only something in perception but also something in daily life. The definition of culture is various, including folk music, native languages and so on. Here is my description of Chinese culture, which may be quite familiar to us.

Chinese culture is the product of a long history; therefore, it is still a mystery in the eyes of foreigners. For example, the Spring Festival is the most popular festival in China, and we celebrate it both for fun and for spiritual fulfillment.

In a word, if you want to enrich yourself with more about culture and customs, you'd better explore more and think more in daily life.

Olympics

The Olympic Games provide us with an opportunity to develop many urban projects and creative industries which are key to city development. Development is a long-term objective while the Games are a one-off project. The city and its industries will remain when the games are over. Therefore, when we do our planning, we should start from the point of urban needs and industrial development, then think about how to adapt them for the Olympic games, not the other way round

As the quardennially-held games, Olympic Games is the world's most popular sporting event, many local citizens are afraid that they cannot afford to watch the competitions. The government should take into consideration "the situations of China" when setting the prices. Except for the opening and closing ceremonies and a few popular events, the majority of tickets will be very, very cheap so that all Chinese have a chance to come and watch the Games.

Hosting the Olympic Games can provide a city with a unique opportunity to increase its international profile, refurbish itself in preparation for the Games and develop a lasting community spirit. The development of well-considered Games infrastructure can bring a lasting legacy to the local community and help host cities grow into centers of national and international event activity.

Cross-culture Marriage

Globalization has connected people from different countries in the world. Thus cross-cultural marriage turns up as people from different countries begin to know each other and to love each other. Yet it remains a question whether cross-cultural couples can get happiness.

It depends on many factors. First, it depends on whether the two share a same experience in a period. Second, it depends on whether the two will live together. Third, it depends on whether the two deeply appreciate each other. It is the decisive factor because love is the most important in marriage. It's hard to imagine a marriage without love while marriage with love can overcome most hardship it meets.

There are also other factors which have an effect on cross-culture marriage, but I believe that a couple with love will finally achieve a happy marriage.

True Love

As it is known to us all, money plays a major role in our lives. Many people, especially teenagers think that money can buy a lot of things, such as food, clothes, and also can buy the enjoyment. People can get what they like and do what they want to do with money. In fact, it’s true that people could never walk a step without money. But can money replace love? My answer is “No”.

As far as I am concerned, love is more precious than wealth. As the proverb says, “There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved”. Without love, there is no point of living. Even though you have enough money, true love can not be bought. For instance, a successful businessman devotes himself to the career so that he ignores his family. Although his house is beautifully decorated, there is no laughter or happiness in the house. What the use of so much money?

In my opinion, money is a good servant, but a bad master. Love lives in cottages as well as in courts. Love is the essence of the life, but money is only a tool to live.

Teenage Smoking

Nowadays, tobacco abuse among teenagers has become a serious problem of the young generation.

Many teenagers think smoking is fashionable. Generally speaking, most of them start to smoke at a young age when their own judgment is not completely formed.

T hey like to imitate the movie stars’ smoking behavior. The environment that in which teenagers lives is luring them to smoke. Others smoke to rebel. The more their parents tell them not to smoke, the more likely they are to have a try.

To tackle the problem, the government has to take measures to create a cleaner society in which teenagers can get better influence. Also, parents need to communicate more with their children. Instead of scolding them, parents should show more care and concern about the teenagers. Feeling respected, teens would not need to “rebel” any more.

Names and Characters

Name is the words that have been accompanying us since we were born. But is there something more about our names? Some people believe that our names have something to do with our characters, meaning that name can decide our personalities.

A girl named Joy can be a happy person, according to this theory.

Others argue that this theory is superstitious. Our personality is decided by the genetic code we inherited from our parents and the education we receive. It has nothing to do with the name we are called by. According to Shakespeare, a rose is florescent no matter how you call it.

In my opinion, our character is definitely not decided by our names. However, names reflect the hopes of our parents in the type of people they want us to be. And, influenced by this hope, we may become what it seems to “imply” in our names.

Releasing Pressure

With our lives becoming more and more fast-paced, a growing number of modern citizens are suffering from mental problems, topping which was high pressure. As a result, people are troubled with insomnia, lack of appetite and low spirits. So, dealing with pressure has become a major concern.

I think there are several things we can to do that can release our pressure. One is to take up sports in our spare time. While exercising, our body produces certain chemicals that can make us feel happier. Another is to listen to music, especially the classical, instrumental pieces, which have the magic power to take you for a ride in a fantastic world. But the most important thing is try your best not to worry about too

much. Y ou need to know that worries contribute to nothing; they only complicate our problem. The world is a wonderful place as long as you believe.

Lifestyle

Different people have different lifestyles. They do the same things from morning to evening every day. Usually, they write their plans on paper. But sometimes they remember what things they will do in their minds.

I also have my own lifestyle. It is wonderful! I get up early on weekdays, and do the school things then. But at the weekend, I never get up early. I sometimes stay in bed until lunchtime. One day, I stayed in bed very late. It was a weekday. The clock rang. It was six thirty. But I didn’t hear it. I stayed in bed until seven o’clock. I looked at the clock and jumped from the bed to the floor. I was afraid, “Oh, my God, I will be late.” I shouted. So I didn’t have breakf ast. I put on my shoes and took a taxi to the school. I was in good luck that day. I wasn’t late for school. I was pleased that time. I think I should get up earlier on weekdays or I will be late. I believe you get up earlier on weekdays.
