中国政府工作报告中特色词汇的翻译
改革开放之后，中国的政治，经济，文化的发展及现状有巨大转变，而这种变化就是涌现出许多有中国特色的新词语，每一个新词的背后都是一种新文化，新发展。在现实中，从西方文化中找到与中国特色的词汇对等的表达成为汉英翻译的一大难题。本文结合奈达的功能对等论对中国特色词汇的翻译进行了探讨。
政府工作报告是对上一年来政府工作的总结，也是对中国特色社会主义建设成就的总结，并在基本国情的基础上制定国家政策和方针，对国家影响深远。随着改革开放的深入及中国在国际事务中日益重要的地位，每年的政府工作报告都引起世界的广泛关注。但是问题来了，在工作报告中有一些具有中国特色的词汇无法在英语中找到对等语。由于政治文献的特殊性，翻译必须要恰当准确。一旦翻译有误，小则给读者的理解带来麻烦，大则让西方读者对中国的国情现状产生误解，对中国在国际中形象造成负面影响。因此，中国特色政治词汇能否准确翻译对宣传和弘扬中国特色文化有重要意义。
中国特色词汇
中国特色词汇是一种包括了概念、政治术语以及具有独特中国传统文化特色的独特的语言表达形式。政府工作报告是关于国家发展，国家政治、经济、文化发展方向的文体，其中有大量具有中国本土特色的词汇，如“南水北调”、“西气东输”、“三农”、“廉政建设”。人们可以从这些词汇全面得了解中国发展的现状，促进国内外的交流与合作。然而，词汇往往是语言中最活跃的因素，社会的飞速发展也会带动中国特色词汇的快速变化。因此，在国际环境日趋复杂的今天，我们在翻译中国政治类文献时，既要采取符合英语社会的表达习惯，又要尽量保存中国特色词汇的特色，保存其原有的社会传统意义，做到原文和译文在文化内涵，情感色彩和社会影响方面的真正对等。
功能对等在政治文献翻译中的运用
政治文献的翻译实际上就是为了宣传本国的政治立场和意识形态，就是两种文化之间的交流与沟通，其目的就是为了获得有益的国际环境。但是由于中国历史悠久，很多具有中国特色的词汇无法在英语中找到一一对应的表达，因此无法实现原文与译文的对等，在这种情况下更加注重译入语读者能否从译文中获去与原文相等的信息。基于这种读者反映论，美国翻译学家尤金·奈达提出了“功能对等”理论。该理论涵盖两个方面：1.译文的语言是与原文最为贴近的对等语；2.译文对读者所产生的效果与原文对读者产生的效果一样。奈达的功能对等理论使读者的关注重点从文字的表面涵义转移到译文最终的效果，为中国特色词汇的翻译起到了借鉴作用。
