Even if you’ve never been to Phoenix in Arizona, you probably know this about the place: its terrible 61 . From June to September, the temperature can easily climb up to an unbearable point. But that doesn’t 62 hikers from attempting the 1.3-mile hard walk to the top of the city’s famous Camelback Mountain. Signs 63 that the trail is extremely difficult. If you continue, a posted checklist suggests at least a liter of water per person. And 64 you’re still not stopped, another 65 farther up declares:

“If you’re halfway through your water, turn around!”

66 many people hardly pay any attention to the warnings. Fortunately, Scott Cullymore does. When he’s not 67 his carpet-cleaning company nearby, the 53-year-old Cullymore can be found hiking up and down Camelback a couple of times a day, 68 cold bottles of water to 69 hikers. He has helped so many hikers that he has 70 a heavenly nickname: the Water Angel. “I’d like a more manly name, but, you know,” he joked. Cullymore was

on Camelback Mountain one day in 2015 71 a British tourist died after being lost for nearly six hours in the hot July. That experience 72 him

to start helping people 73 caught by the unforgiving version of Mother Nature. “They lack deep understanding of the mountain, and they feel too 74 of what they can do, and so they get themselves in trouble,” he told the Arizona Republic. If a hiker has a flushed face and is not sweating anymore, Cullymore says that he 75 his backpack, pulls out a frosty bottle, and hands it to

the person. “It’s

76 that we’re safe in the middle of the city. You can die up here, and no one would know.” One hiker who enjoyed the 77 of offered water agrees. “You think you know the hot weather, but then you get ou t here in the desert and it 78 you like a blanket. You have no way to get out,” said Austin Hill, who was hiking with a high school friend. Those ___20___ which appeared to bring the desired results were then retained and repeated ___21___ they hardened into fixed rituals. Eventually stories arose which explained or veiled the mysteries of the rites. As time passed some rituals were ___22___, but the stories, later called myths, persisted and provided material for art and drama. Those who believe that drama evolved out of ritual also argue that those rites ___23___ the seed of theater because music, dance, masks, and costumes were almost always used. ___24___, a suitable ___25___ had to be provided for performances and when the entire community did not participate, a clear ___26___ was usually made between the “acting area” and the “auditorium”. In addition, there were performers, and, since considerable importance was attached to ___27___ mistakes in the enactment of rites, religious leaders ___28___ assumed that task. Wearing masks and costumes, they often ___29___ other people, animals, or supernatural beings, and mimed the desired effect —success in hunt or battle, the coming rain, the revival of the Sun —as an ___30___ might. Eventually such ___31___ representations were separated from religious activities. Another theory ___32___ the theater’s origin from the human interest in storytelling. According to this view, tales (about the hunt, war, or other feats) are gradually ___33___, at first through the use of impersonation, action, and dialogue by a narrator and then through the ___34___ of each of the roles by a different person.

用if,unless,before,after,until,although,though,as,since,because,so,so that 等构成含状语从句的复合句(这里要注意区分一下复杂句和复合句,复合句是包含在复杂句这个概念里面的,在下文的基础写作部分有提到)。 (3)用who,which,that,when,where,why等构成含定语从句的复合句。

The Internet has become part of young people’s life. ____1____ report shows that 38% of students often use the Internet .
