四、短文改错。

Many Apr il Fool’s jokes may end up not very funny. A famous TV star once invited his girlfriend onto his show on Ap ril Fool’s Day. He asked her to marry him. The lady was so happy because she really wanted to get marry. However, when she said “yes”, he replied, “April Fool!” That little joke didn’t have a very happy ending. The TV star lost his girlfriend and his show canceled.

One o f the world’s most famous trick, h owever, happened on October rather than April. In that month in 1938, actor Orson Welles announced on his radio program that aliens from Mars had landed on the earth. He described where they landed and told how they were moving across the United States. Welles made it sound so really that hundred of people believed in the story, and fear spreads across the whole country. By the time police officers announced that the story was a hoax, thousands of people had left their homes.

五、语法精讲。

1．过去完成时(1) 构成：由“助动词had(用于各种人称和数) + 过去分词”成否定式：had not + 过去分词缩写形式：hadn’t +过去分词

(2) 用法：过去完成时表示在过去某一时间或动作之前已经发生或完成了的动作。

(3) 它所表示动作发生的时间是“过去的过去”。

①表示过去某一时间可用by, before等构成的短语来表示。

②也可以用when, before ,by the end of, 等引导的时间状语从句来表示。

③还可以通过状语从句或通过上下文暗示。

Eg. When I got there, you ______already ___(eat) your meal.当我到达那里时，你已经开始吃了。

By the time he got here, the bus _______(leave). 在他到达那里之前，汽车已经离开了。

翻译：By the time I got up, my brother _____already ____(get) in the shower.

I“by the time”表示“当/到……时”，引导时间状语从句。如果从句中用了一般过去时，主语中常用过去完成时；如果主句中用了将来时，从句中常用一般现在时表将来。

例：By the time I got up, he _____________. 当我起床时，他已经离开了。

He _________a teacher by the time he is twenty. 到他二十岁时，他会成为一名教师。

II by now 表示“到现在为止”，通常与现在完成时连用。但是与过去的时间连用时，通常要用过去完成时。

III 表示由过去的某一时刻开始，一直持续到过去另一时间的动作或状态，常和for，since构成的时间状语连用。
