Words

1.black clouds 乌云cloudless万里无云

4.over有“穿过”的意思。

The birds are flying over the house. 鸟儿在屋上飞过。

over还可表不“在……上方”(不接触表面),

如:The sky is over our heads. 天空在我们头顶上。

on和over都是介词,on表示"在……上面",指一物体与另一物体表面相接触;over表示"在……上方",指一物体与另一物体不接触.

There is a light on the desk.桌子上有盏台灯。(light与desk接触)

There is a light over the desk.桌子上方有一盏灯。(light与desk不接触)

6.ship一般指海洋中行驶的大船。boat一词指河中行驶的小船。

7.aero plane(英国英语),airplane(美国英语),飞机(正式用语);plane,飞机(非正

式用语)。

some既可修饰可数名词,也可修饰不可数名词。如:some tables一些椅子(可数名词),some milk一些牛奶(不可数名词)。

句中with是介词,表示“和……一起”。family是指“家里的人”或“家庭成员”。

2. wait for一般说等人,或者等机会,等条件之类

wait on后面接的名词一般不是表示人的名词,而是表示“决定”之类的名词或者有关的事物的名词。

如:

What are you waiting for? 你还在等什么?

Who are you waiting for? .你在等谁呀?

I will be waiting for you. 我会一直等候着你。

wait for 后面不接人的话可以直接接时间表示等多久。

I have been waiting for a whole year.我已经等了整整一年了。(用这个现在完成进行时态表示等到现在还没有等到结果。如果说have waited for a whole year就是有“等了一年终于等到”的含义。)

We are still waiting on Mr.Britt's decision. 我们还在等Britt先生的决定。

We are still waiting on the report.我们还在等报告出来。

在英语中,ing是动词的一种后缀(即在动词后加上该后缀),是进行时态(be+doing)的动词一种分词形式,如:

He is doing his homework.(他正在写作业)

同时,某些动词之后加上该后缀可以变为其名词形式,如:

swim→swimming

动词变为进行时的规则:

动词以单个e 结尾,去掉e;加ing动词,如making

以ee结尾,直接加ing ,如:agree agreeing; see →seeing

以y 结尾的动词,直接加ing

有时结尾是两个辅音中间夹着一个元音的把结尾字母双写加ing,如:getting swimming

还有就是两个辅音中间夹着一个元音并以e结尾的把e去了加ing,如:give--giving

(动词为单音节:以单一元音字母+ 单一辅音字母结尾,辅音字母双写如; running

动词为双音节或者多音节:最后一个音节为重读音节,以单一元音字母+ 单一辅音字母结尾,辅音字母双写,再加ing)
