考研英语冲刺阶段复习三点注意

进入每年的十一二月份,准备考研的同学的复习时间越来越紧张,考试压力也越来越大。如何在最后这几个月里高效率、低成本地准备考研英语,是许多同学需要迫切解决的问题,建议大家在冲刺阶段做好如下三项工作:

一、紧抓复习词汇

目前,考研英语只考查考生对书面英语的理解和创作。在对书面英语的理解过程中,词汇可以说是基石。有的同学可能会有这样的疑问:我在前一段的复习过程中单词已经背得差不多了,现在再复习单词是不是有点浪费时间?下面,我们以1996年真题第三篇的第一段为例来说明单词复习应该达到的深度和广度。

In the last half of the nineteenth century capital and labour were enlarging and perfecting their rival organizations on modern lines. Many an old firm was replaced by a limited liability company with a bureaucracy of salaried managers.

第一句话的主语成分中capital和labour这两个词估计所有的同学都认识,但是如果在阅读过程中,考生对这两个词仅仅停留在简单认知或粗浅翻译的水平上,那么这个段落乃至全文的中心句的许多重要信息就会被忽略掉。如此囫囵起头,看到后面必然会对文章的内在逻辑一头雾水。正确的做法是,看到这两个意义相反的词,考生应能立即在脑海中反应一串与之相关的对立概念:capital可以是"资本、资本家、资产阶级......";而labour相对应的就是"劳动力、工人、无产阶级......",那么整个文章必然会围绕资本主义社会的劳资矛盾展开论述,这样从阅读文章的第一行开始,我们就会对文章的中心话题有一个良好的把握。

如果看得再仔细一点,我们就会发现labour一词的拼法为英式英语,那么可以据此推定此文的作者是英国人,此文涉及的问题为英国历史的可能性就极大。如果再结合一下相关背景,想一想狄更斯笔下的近代英国各阶层的生活,在刚刚开始阅读的时候关于文章的大背景知识就已经建立起来了。

通过这个例子,掌握单词的重要性已经凸显。考研英语考查的所谓单词的"维度",不是其广度,不是看考生能够认识多少怪癖的生词,而是考查其深度,即看考生是否能够掌握一个英点文单词的基本义、引申义、感情色彩以及用法。对于已把大纲词汇背得比较熟练

的同学来说,在最后冲刺阶段的首要任务就是把单词放到活生生的语境中去,认真体会其引申含义和感情色彩,并且尝试将其应用到自己的写作中去。

二、"细读"历年真题

无论从难度还是出题思路上看,历年考研真题的质量都是非常高的。如果考生在准备考试的时候只是把这些真题作为复习最后阶段自测水平的工具,那么实在是有点浪费资源了。笔者建议,对真题的把握大家不应停留在搞懂题目及基本的出题思路,而且还应该更进一步,把历年真题作为系统提高自己读写能力的范文范本,做到真题中的单词熟练掌握、长难句熟练拆分、经典句型随意模仿。只有这样,才能从根本上解决英语复习中的语言能力问题。例如2003年阅读理解第四篇文章中有两段:

In 1950, the U.S. spent $12.7 billion on health care. In 2002, the cost will be $1540 billion. Anyone can see this trend is unsustainable. Yet few seem willing to try to reverse it. Some scholars conclude that a government with finite resources should simply stop paying for medical care that sustains life beyond a certain age-say 83 or so. Former Colorado governor Richard Lamm has been quoted as saying that the old and infirm have a duty to die and get out of the way, so that younger, healthier people can realize their potential.

I would not go that far. Energetic people now routinely work through their 60s and beyond, and remain dazzlingly productive....... As a mere 68-year-old, I wish to age as productively as they have.

这两个段落中最引人注意的就是其内在的逻辑关系。大家可以看到,第一段中主要引用客观的数据以及他人论点,其中没有任何以第一人称开始并表达作者观点态度的句子;而第二段第一句话以第一人称开头,并在其中用到了一个代词"that"......如果我们能够首先明确这个代词指代的是上文中Former Colorado governor Richard Lamm的观点,那么作者对于他的态度就跃然纸上了。作者显然整体上同意所引用的人的观点,但是他又认为其有一点点地"far",此处的far一词结合上下文可以是 "太出格"或"偏激"的意思。进一步讲"I would not go that far."是个看似简单但却十分地道的英语表达,广大考生在写作中遇到对别人的观点进行指正的时候,这样的短句不仅能够清晰地表达出考生自己的观点,而且生动活泼,比起"in my opinion,this view is wrong"之类的表达不知要高明多少。

三、适当进行模拟练习

距离考试时间越来越近。这个时候进行适当的模考训练是有必要的。大多数同学都

知道模考的重要性,但是在模考的"质"和"量"上却经常出现问题。最常见的是模考"保量不保质",做模拟题一味贪多。还有的同学把一套试题进行肢解,第一天写作文,第二天做阅读,第三天再做其他题目。这样的模考,不仅不能锻炼自己在考场上调配时间的能力,反倒会制造出一种英语水平提高的幻觉。这样的模考不如不做。有的同学在做完一套模拟题后,的后续工作就是对答案,计算自己的分数。而对于具体题目的对错和整套试卷的得失全然不放在心上。以上的模考,与其说是为了提高应试技能而做的冲刺训练,不如说是为缓解压力求得心理安慰的方法。

那么,真正有效的模考是什么样的呢?第一、做模拟题一定要严格按照考试的时间。建议考生每周选择一个下午的时间,从两点开始,完全按照考试的流程,在三个小时内完成一套试卷。做题时,要特别注意各部分的时间分配。第二、做完题后,不仅要算出自己的得分,还要对整套试卷的得失进行充分的分析,特别是要关注自己做错的那些题目。对于错题,一定要进行错误分析。第三、可以选择一些高质量的模拟题,进行二次模拟。有些题目仅做一遍,考生的收获可能并不是很大,在这种情况下,再做一次,很多问题就可以暴露出来。

考研英语的复习,行百里者半九十。在最后的冲刺阶段,良好的学习心态和饱满的学习热情是成功的前提,而科学的方法是成功的关键。只要大家有信心、有毅力,就一定能冲破复习中黎明前的黑暗,迎来考研胜利的满天朝霞!
