过了几天，秦巨伯又假装喝醉了，到蓬山庙附近走来走去，又看见两个孙子走来了，他们照样搀扶秦巨伯，秦巨伯就一下子把他们紧紧抓住，鬼动弹不得，带回家里，竟然是两个人。秦巨伯把鬼放在火上烧烤，肚子和脊背都被烤焦并且裂开了。他们把鬼抬出去扔在院子里，夜里鬼都逃走了。他很遗憾没有把鬼杀掉。
