Fifty years ago, Russian astronaut Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space. Since then, more and more women have followed her example and gone into space.

Tereshkova became interested in parachuting(跳伞) at a young age. Because of her experience of it, she was chosen to be an astronaut. Tereshkova and four other women were part of the first
