No.1 Middle School in Dongshi Ye Jianping Good afternoon, Ladies and gentlemen. I’m very pleased to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas. I’m Ye Jianping from No. 1 Middle School

in Dongshi. Now I’ll prepare to say Section A of Unit 11 Book Two. It’s made of seven parts.

Part 1. The analysis of the teaching ma terial

(一) Status and function

1. This is an important lesson in Book Two. From this lesson, it starts with asking the Ss to grasp contents of each Sample. To attain “four skills” request of listening, speaking, reading and writing. To start listening “phrase Bank” and tell the Ss to remember the new phrases. To start asking the Ss to write the English sentences well. Therefore this lesson is in the important position of the teaching material.

2. This lesson is the first one of Unit 11. So if the Ss can learn it well, it will be helpful to make the Ss learn the rest of this unit.

3. Such a topic is related to daily life, it is helpful to raise learning interest of students and it will be also helpful to improve their spoken English and develop their feeling to their parents.

4. The teaching aims are established according to Junior School English curriculum standard provision.

Knowledge goals:(1)Key Vocabulary: chore, dish, sweep, trash, fold, living room, meeting.

clean the living room, do chores, have to do sth, like to do (doing)

sth,

make dinner, make your bed.

(2). Target Language: Could you please sweep the floor? Yes, sure.

Could you please do the dishes? Sorry, I can’t. I have to do my homework

. Could I use the car? No, you can’t. I have to go to a meeting.

Could you make your bed and fold your clothes? All right. (二). Teaching aims and demands

Students learn to make polite requests and ask for permission.

Part 2. The analysis of the students

The Ss has learned English in the middle school for about one year and a half so far. They can understand some words, phrases and some simple sentences. The Ss have taken a great interest in English now. They can read the new words and phrases correctly.

Part 3: The Teaching Methods

1. As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School is to cultivate students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson I’ll mainly use “Communicative”teaching met hod, “Audio-visual” teaching method and

“Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, I’ll let the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue. I’ll give the Ss some tasks and arrange five kinds of activities: chanting and talking, guessing games, watching CAI, acting out Section A(1a-2c) and having a competition. So we use :1). Communicative teaching method

2). Audio-visual teaching method 3). Task-based” teaching method

2. Teaching special features :To use these methods are helpful to develop the Ss' thought.

3. Teaching preparation: flashcards and some paper, multimedia

Part 4 The learning methods. (学法)

1). Set up ten steps: it is greeting and

revision---presentation---listening(1b)---practice in pairs---listening practice(2a/2b)---practice in pairs--- Group-work--- Summary--- Have a test and learn to query--- Homework

2). Ask the Ss to take part in class activities and develop their cooperation in the activities.

Part 5: Teaching procedure

Step 1. Greeting and revision

Say to the students, I am a new teacher from Dongshi. Could I teach you English here? I hope

we’ll have fun learning and speaking English. First, could I ask you some questions? T: What did you do on your last day off? Ss: Did homework, played basketball, listened to the music, slept, played computer games and did housework/ did chores. Step 2. Presentation Learn new words and phrases. Then practice in pairs.

1.Teach the words : chore

2.Let’s chant and learn more words and phrases.

3.Self-check: The students learn by themselves and check the answers.

搭/乘车; 去开会; 呆得晚; 从事; 用小车; 去看电影。

4.Brain storm and remember the phrases.

1). After dinner, you need to ___________.

2). After the washed clothes are dry, you need to _______________ .

3). If the dustbin(垃圾箱)is full, you have to _______________.

4). If there is lots of litter(垃圾)on the floor, you have to ____________.

5). After you get up in the morning, you need to ____________.

5. Drills. T: .What chores do you do everyday? Ss: I often fold the clothes, etc.

We love our parents, we should help do some housework.

T: What kind of chores do you do to help your parents?

Ss: I do the dishes every day. How about you?

The students discuss with their partners.

Step 3 Listening (1b): What kind of chores do Mom and Peter do? Check (∨) Mom or Peter.

The students check the answers one by one. The answers are: Mom---do the dishes, sweep the floor, clean the living room; Tom---take out the trash, make your bed, fold your clothes.

Step 4 Practice the sentences in pairs.

S1: Could you please sweep the floor? S2: Yes, sure.

Practice like this. Take out the trash; do the dishes; fold the clothes.

Step 5 Listening(2a-2b)

Peter asks his father if he can do four things. What does his father say? Check the answers.

Then listen again and draw lines to the reasons in the chart above.

Step 6 Practice in pairs:

Ask the Ss practice like this.

1. Could you please take out the trash? Yes, sure./ No problem!

Could you please fold the clothes? Sorry, I can’t. I have to do my homework.

Could you please sweep the floor? Sorry, I can’t. I am doing the dishes.

2. Could I do something for our class? Yes, you can.

3. Could I use your computer? Sorry. I’m going to work on it now. Step 7 Group-work

Ask the students practice in groups. What chores do you do at home? How often do you do these things? Interview who is the most able(能干的) in their group? Then give us a report like:

Hello, I'm ...... In my group, We think Kate is the most hard-working. Kate usually does the dishes. She sweeps the floor once a week. She…….

Step 8 Summary

Say: in this class, we’ve learnt many phrases to talk about housework. And we can do chores.

But how to give polite request and permission is very important. We can use these sentences:

Could you ple ase……? Could I please……? Yes, sure./ sorry, I can’t. I have to do…….

Step 9 Have a test and learn to query

Step 10 Homework

1.Try to remember the verb phrases you learnt in this lesson.

2. Do some housework at home, write them and give us a report next time.

Part 6 Blackboard design (板书设计)

Purpose: In my opinion, the blackboard design can reflect the teacher’s ability of mastering the teaching material. Lead the students to grasp the words and phrases, understand the usage of the polite request and permission. Require the students to apply the grammar correctly and flexibly.

Part 7 Self evaluation( 自评)

In order to make the students the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as director, I designed some activities to arouse the students’ i nterest of studying. The students can learn the target language easily. It can improve the students’ ability of collecting and dealing with the information. Help the students form a positive attitude towards learning at school and at home. They can show love to their parents and do chores at home every day.

这里我用了什么方法(生齐答:比较法)什么叫比较法呢(幻灯出示:比较法就是通过观察、体会,找出两种或两种以上同类事物的异同或高下,从而把它们区别开来的方法,用比较法学习可以增强记忆,提高学习效率。) 2、26个字母读音的比较: (幻灯出示26个大写字母。)这是26个字母,谁来读一读。(指名读,若生读拼音,就肯定鼓励,你学了英语,还牢记着拼音音序记,很好;若生读英语,就引导:你为什么读英语?请读拼音好吗!生读拼音。) 我们有的同学,学了英语后,只要一看见这些字母,就念英语,要他读拼音的音序反而不会,要知道我们是中国人,汉语拼音是我们学习汉语的'基础,是祖国的母语,怎么能忘呢?为了复习拼音并区别拼音与英语,这节课我们来上活动课26个字母。 板书课题:26个字母 同学们学了英语,容易把英语和拼音混淆,这不怪大家;学了英语,对拼音有所遗忘,这也正常。因为我们随着汉字掌握得越来越多,运用拼音的时间就越来越少;而学英语则不同,这种纯拼音文字都是由这26个字母组成的,学得越多,就越熟。这就使得我们容易混淆拼音与英语,甚至忘掉拼音,那是不是就任其混淆,任其遗忘呢?当然不能。(闪现26个大写字母)这26个字母是我们的汉语拼音音序字母,汉语拼音教我们识字,是我们学习汉语的看家本领,我们可千万不能忘。喜欢英语是好事,但要记住:“喜新不厌旧,学洋别忘本”。

You,please.(学生教学生,对表现好学生的加星星) 以此类推教剩下的九个数字。 (三)趣味操练(游戏)1、火车接龙。老师准备好一系列数字卡片,可为电话号码、QQ号等,请学生依次快速读出来。 2、每个学生从1-10中挑一个数字,老师也挑一个数字,比如5。把每个学生的数字和老师的数字都系在黑板上(不用排序)。而这九位学生跟老师一起站在讲台上进行游戏,全体学生拍腿两次,拍手两次,而教师边在说自己数字的同时还得做手势表示,再拍手一次大声说出一个学生的数字,所挑该数字的学生接着往下做,依次类推,一直玩下去,直到每个学生的数字都被联系一直两次为止。 (四)巩固扩展 播放歌曲Ten little candles.让学生跟着唱。
