Many years ago, when I was fresh out of school and working in Denver, I was driving to my parents' home in Missouri for Christmas. I stopped at a gas station about 50 miles from Oklahoma City, where I was planning to stop and visit a friend. While I was standing in line at the cash register(收款台), I said hello to an older couple who were also paying for gas.

I took off, but had gone only a few miles when black smoke poured from the back of my car. I stopped and wondered what I should do. A car pulled up behind me. It was the couple I had spoken to at the gas station. They said they would take me to my friend's. We chatted on the way into the city, and when I got out of the car, the husband gave me his business card.

I wrote him and his wife a thank-you note for helping me. Soon afterward, I received a Christmas present from them. Their note that came with it said that helping me had made their holidays meaningful.

Years later, I drove to a meeting in a nearby town in the morning. In late afternoon I returned to my car and found that I'd left the lights on all day, and the battery(电池)was dead. Then I noticed that the Friendly Ford dealership - a shop selling cars - was right next door. I walked over and found two salesmen in the showroom.

"Just how friendly is Friendly Ford?" I asked and explained my trouble. They quickly drove a pickup truck to my car and started it. They would accept no payment, so when I got home, I wrote them a note to say thanks. I received a letter back from one of the salesmen. No one had ever taken the time to write him and say thank you, and it meant a lot, he said.

"Thank you" - two powerful words. They're easy to say and mean so much.

Students should think now about what extracurricular (课外的) activities they'd like to participate in. Participating in extracurricular activities may help you deepen your physical, creative, social, political, and career interests by bringing you into communication with other like-minded people you didn’t previously know.

You can join groups as a way to get support from other students. A club or group can also be a

great way to meet people who are different from you. Lots of youth programs bring people together with those who are different as a way to break down the barriers between people. Participating in extracurricular activities helps you in other ways, too. It looks good on college and job applications and shows admissions officers and employers you're well-rounded and responsible. Specific activities help with specific goals.

The most basic reason for joining a club or team is that it gives you something better to do than staring at the wall, wandering the hall, or sleeping all afternoon. People who are participating are less likely to pick up bad habits, like smoking or drinking.

1.概括短文的内容要点,该部分的字数大约30词左右;

a) 简述你们学校有哪些课外活动;

b) 你认为课外活动能给你的学习生活带来什么;

Growing Pains

Teenagers are caught between a desire for independence and an actual need for parenting, protection and their proper guidance.

Some are willing to rely on their parents, because they believe in their parents and regard them as good teachers both in life and study. While other teens feel angry about dependence because they think it is an admission of weakness. They are developing the ability to be independent.

It is not unusual for teens to react with anger or rebellion(叛逆)at seemingly innocent suggestions or comments from parents. This anger is often expressed in comments such as, “My parents won’t let me grow up,” or “They treat me like a child.”

Teenagers question their parents’ ideas. They no longer think their pare nts have all the answers. Sometimes teenagers are too proud of themselves. They complain that their parents are old fashioned, or don’t know what’s going on and can’t keep up with times.

1.请用30个词概括短文的要点;

2.然后以约120个词就“青少年的独立观”这个主题发表你的看法,至少包含以下内容要点:(1)有人认为不能独立,要依靠父母的保护;

It was a winter morning, just a couple of weeks before Christmas 2005. Trevor, my husband, parked his bike outside the back door as he usually does. After putting in 10 hours of labor, he returned to find his bike gone.

The bike, a black Kona 18 speed, was our only transport. Trevor used it to get to work, putting in 60-hour weeks to support his young family.

I was so sad that someone would steal our bike that I wrote to the newspaper and told them our story. Shortly after that, several people in our area offered to help. One wonderful stranger even bought a bike, then called my husband to pick it up. Once again my husband had a way to get to and from his job. It really is an honor that a complete stranger would go out of their way for someone they have never met before.

People say that a smile can be passed from one person to another, but acts of kindness from strangers are even more so. This experience has had a spreading effect in our lives because it strengthened our faith in humanity(人性)as a whole. No matter how big or how small, an act of kindness shows that someone cares. And the results can be everlasting.

Teenagers’ secrets should be kept to themselves and no one else ,their parents included ,has the right to stick their nose into their private life .As we know , teenagers are going through a special period of development both physically and psychologically .They are curious about and puzzled by the unexpected changes in their body and mind. What’s more ,exposed to a world of adults ,it is only too natural for them to begin imitating (模仿) adults’ behaviors in secret .Boys begin to smoke and girls begin to spend time doing their hair .Some even begin to date with a girlfriend or boyfriend without their parents’ knowledge .They are doing al this in secret because they are still unsure whether it is right to do so and afraid that ,if found out by their parent, they will get misunderstood and even punished .And in fact , in many cases ,the parents can not deal with the matter well and hurt their children’s feelings badly ,making children no longer willing to communicate with their parents .When this happens ,it hurts terribly the whole family feeling .So it seems right that teenagers should keep their secrets to themselves and their parents should allow their children that right .

In this passage, the writer mainly tells us two of his experiences of being helped by strangers. After he wrote them thank-you notes, he realized that saying “thank you” to others meant so much.

I have a similar experience. Once when I was about to go home after school, it was raining so heavily that I had to wait for the rain to stop. But after half an hour it was still raining. Seeing this, the guard at the gate offered to lend me his umbrella. I accepted at once. Thanks to his help, I got home on time without getting wet. The next morning, when I returned the umbrella to the guard, I said thank you to him and left him a note expressing my gratitude sincerely. To my surprise, he said no one had ever written him to say thank you, and it meant a lot to him.

So in my opinion, saying thank you to others is not only easy but also meaningful to the person who says it and the receiver!

练习二

The author (The passage) discussed the benefit of extracurricular activities including being a way to improve students’ health, widen their social circle and introduce them to new ideas and people.

(30 words)

Our school offers many different kinds of after-school activities. These include sports, music and drama. I’m one of the members of drama club. I think it is very important for students to participate in extracurricular activities. Extracurricular activities can improve our social life, introducing us to new people outside our class or school. In addition, they can reduce the stress and pressure we experience as the result of our studies. Also, they can bring us a lot of enjoyment. If we feel fresh and relaxed we can study better, so they will also be good for our grades. Thus, in my view, if we focus too much on any one thing, either study or after-school activities will be negatively affected. But with the right balance both can improve. (128 words)

练习三

To Be Dependent or Independent?

The passage mainly tells us the pains of teenagers during their growth. Some seek to be independent from their parents as early as possible, while others hold opposite opinion.

Some teenagers think independence is a good way to gain living skills to survive by themselves, so they wouldn’t like to form the habit of asking their parents when coming across any problems but want to be encouraged to solve problems individually and independently.

Others think they are still young, and they are the only child in the famil y. They needn’t worry too much about their future because they believe in their parents that everything could be well

designed.

I’m in favor of the first opinion, parents should try to let their children think about their own affairs and make their own decisions so that their creativity could be developed and give some proper guidance when needed.

练习四

The author describes her experience of losing her bike but afterwards getting help from many people. The author thinks highly of the acts of kindness and believes it will influence many other people.

This reminds me of my experience when I was eight years old. I was left alone at home, doing my homework when an old man knocked at my door and begged for food. He was in rags and tired, obviously coming from a long distance. I hesitated at that moment because my family was not well off. But when I saw his worried look, I filled his bowl with rice. He was very thankful to me and said that I would be rewarded for my kind heart. Many years have passed, I still well remember that I have ever given a hand to an old man who was in need.

Nowadays, some people claim to have been cheated out of money when they try to offer help to others. However, I still insist that the acts of kindness should be encouraged. If everyone is willing to hold out their hands to those in trouble, there will be fewer problems in this world.

练习五

Teenagers ’ Secrets Should be Shared with Their Parents

This passage mainly says that many teenagers have their own secrets but parents always want to know them ,which will probably hurt children’s feeling .As a result ,children won’t like to share their secrets with their parents.

Some people believed that parents should allow their teenage children to keep their own secrets .Teenagers are going through a special period .Wondering about and puzzled by changes of their body and mind, afraid to get misunderstood when their parents know it ., they choose to copy adults’ behavior secretly .Parents should respect the right of their children .

This idea sounds right but is actually wrong .

Most of the teenagers’ secrets ,if not at all , should be shared by th eir parents .Many of their secrets kept to themselves may do them unimaginable harm .I am speaking from my experience .Unlike many of other teenagers ,I always let my parents know my secrets. They are always ready to offer me valuable advice about how to deal with my troubles and puzzles .I am happy to have such understanding parents who can share my secret with me and help me to live a happy life in this special time .

I received a call from the nursing home. Grandpa was failing rapidly. There wa s nothing to do but hold his hand. “I love you, Grandpa. Thank you for always being there for me.”

Memories...memories... on hot summer days plowing the soil, planting the corn and beans and harvesting them in the fall...always working from dawn to dusk. But on Sundays he put on his gray suit and hat. Grandma wore her wine-colored dress and ivory beads, and they went to church.

I removed Grandpa's things from the room and found a very old handmade valentine in the top drawer of his nightstand. A piece of white paper had been glued to the center of the heart. On it, penned in Grandma's handwriting, were these words:

TO LEE FROM HARRIET With All My Love, February 14, 1895

Are you alive? Real? Or are you the most beautiful dream that I have had in years? Are you an angel—or a figment of my imagination?

You made me laugh when my heart was crying. You helped me set new goals when I was dying. You showed me dew drops and I had diamonds. You sang to me and angelic choirs burst forth in song. You held my hand and my whole being loved you. You gave me a ring and I belonged to you. I belonged to you and I have experienced all.

Tears streamed down my cheeks as I read the words. Now it is framed on my dresser, a treasured part of family history.

范文

After his grandpa passed away, the author found the grandpa’s valentine which is a fitting testament to the true and holy love story about his grandpa and grandma.

It is essential for everyone to get true love in his lifetime. On the one hand, it can bring in full confidence, but on the other hand it can contribute to many success.Without true love, however, you are not courageous to meet challenges. What’s more, you will fail in your study.

From my personal poit of view, we, out of true love, are considerate of each other’s feelings and courteous in our actions toward one another; but we do not insist that our own way is best and demand that our mates give in to us. Besides, we are concerned not only about our own individual interests, but about the interests of the other as well, because we look forward to our relationship growing more meaningful and precious. Last but not least, we should treat our mates with absolute trust. As soon as we gain true love each other,we’ll be

enabled to fight and o vercome any difficulty; at the same time, we’ll find our life full of color and flavor.

I have a friend Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch (牧马场) in San Ysidro. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.

The next day he handed it in to the teacher. On the front was a large red F. The boy with the dream asked, “Why did I receive an F?”

The teacher said, “This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like yo u. You have no money. You come from an itinerant(四处奔波的)family. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you’ll have to pay large stud fees. There’s no way you could ever do it.”

He stated, “You can keep the F and I’ll keep my dream.”

The best part of the story is that two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on his ranch for a week. When the teacher was leaving, he said, “Look, Monty, I can tell you this now. When I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole a lot of kids’ dreams. Fortunately you had enough belief not to give up on yours.”

范文

This passage tells us that Monty Roberts, who had such strong belief that he didn’t give up his dream all the time, eventually succeeded in owning a horse ranch.

For a person, belief, always plays an important role in his/her life. As a saying goes, “Where there is a will, there is a way.” Anyone who has strong belief can enjoy a colorful life. Otherwise, he will lose himself in his way of life.

Belief is so important that it can change one’s fate. As a deaf man, Beethoven went on working with his strong belief in the last year of his life, though he was

not able to hear his own fine music. Marie Curie, a famous scientist, also has set a good example. In 1898, Marie found a new element in the pitchblende. In order to improve her discovery, Marie and her husband worked hard. At last they saw the dim blue light of new element ——radium. Her dream had come true.

From my personal poit of view, it can be seen that one with firmly-held belief is likely to get successful and master his own life.

“Can I see my baby?” asked the happy new mother. The bundle(婴儿包)was placed in her arms and when she moved the fold of cloth to look upon his tiny face, she gasped-the baby has been born without ears. Time, however, proved that the baby’s hearing was perfect except his appearance.

One day when he rushed home from school and threw himself into his mother’s arms, he cried out bitterly, “A boy, a big boy… called me a f-…freak.” She sighed, knowing that his life was to be endless of heartbreaks.

He grew up, handsome for his misfortune. A favorite with his fellow students, he might have been class president, but for that. He developed a gift for literature and music.

The boy’s father had a talk with the family doctor. Could nothing be done? “I believe we could graft(移植)on a pair of outer ears, if they could be donated(捐献),”the doctor decided. So the search began for a person who would make such a sacrifice a young man. Two years went by. Then, “You’re going to the hospital, son. Mo ther and I have someone who will donate the ears you need. But it’s a secret,” said the father.

The operation was a brilliant success. His talents blossomed (开花)into genius. School and college became a series of successes. Later he married and entered the diplomatic(外交)service. “But I must know!” he urged his father. “Who gave so much for me? I could never do enough for him.”

“I do not believer you could,” said the father, “but the agreement was that you are not to know….not yet.” The years kept the secret, but the day did come…. one of the darkest days that ever pass through a son. He stood with his father over his mother’s casket(棺材).Slowly and tenderly, the father stretched forth a hand and raised the thick, reddish-brown hair to let out the secret.

范文

Help is Always Unselfish

An selfish mother donated her ears to her imperfect son without telling him about it. At last, the son got the secret from his father after his mother died. Help is always unselfish. The mother donated her ears to her son, showing her greatest love to her child. From these, we can know how difficult it is for parents to raise their children.

In the daily life, we always get kind help from our teachers, classmates and friends. And their kind help is always unselfish. When I was in Senior Middle School, I lived in the school. Every time I was ill, my teachers and classmates gave me kind help, taking good care of me all the time. In today’s society, I was affected by some bad things, which made me think that there was no kindness in the world. It was my friends who did everything to help me out.

From these experiences, I have realized that helping others is necessary, and true love does exist in our daily life. Since then, I have changed myself a lot, and I also give hands to others when they are in need of help.

One day, Zeng’s wife decided to go out for shopping, but her little son insisted on going with her to the market. Thinking that she would come back very soon, and that the naughty boy would bring her a lot of trouble, she was unwilling to do so.

In order to persuade the boy to stay home, she told him, “Oh, come on, good boy, if you listen to Mom and then Mom will give you a present when I am back.”“What present are you going to give me, Mom?” asked the son.

“We haven’t eaten meat for a long time, so I will kill our pig and let you enjoy a big nice dinner.” The mother comforted the boy when it happened that their pig was wandering in front of the house. Just at that time, her husband came back and heard what she said. Thinking of the nice meal, the boy gave in.

Not very soon, the mother came back, but what she saw shocked her. It was her husband who had killed the only pig of the poor family.

“Why did you kill it? You know that it is very important for my family.” she scolded him.

“I did that just for your promise!” Mr. Zeng answered.

范文

Stick to what you promise

As d escribed in the passage, Mr Zeng firmly kept his wife’s promise to his child, form which we learn that Mr. Zeng is worth depending on and good at educating children.

I can’t agree more with Mr. Zeng’s education method. Had I been his child, I would have formed a deep impression on it and gradually cultivated this quality. Just as an old saying goes, “Action speak louder than words.” If our parents themselves can do what they promise, we are likely to follow them.

The passage so well retained me the remembrance of an experience. Once, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t play basketball that week. Nevertheless, it is so fascinating that I even tried to persuade myself to enjoy it. In time, I resisted the temptation and kept my promise. Since then, I have realized that it is keeping our promise that makes us feel a sense of fulfillment and wins respect from others. So, please stick to your promise.

范文

Mother’s Love

The fable presents a sentimental story to us in which an apple tree satisfied a boy’s wishes unconditionally. To the tree, nothing was more delightful than the boy’s company. The apple tree’s magnanimity and the boy’s selfishness impress me most. What the tree has done shows us how devoted a mother can be. The tree, like a passionate mother, always embraced the boy whole-heartedly no matter when he came back and what he required of it. But the boy’s actions are really shameful. Regardless of the tree’s health, he deprived the tree of its fruit, branches and even the trunk. He was too selfish. I was deeply moved by the fable and felt an impulse to praise all the mothers. It made me realize how great my mother is and I should be grateful for what she has done. To reward her, I’ll do my utmost to live up to her expectations.

If I Were the Boy,What Would I Do?

The tree in the fable is affectionate and unselfish. It dedicated everything to the boy but asked for no return. All it desired is the boy’s company.

If I were the boy, I would keep contact with the tree and be considerate. First, from the bottom of my heart, I know the tree is more than a tree, it is my dearest love. Young or old, I would keep in touch with it using various ways. If I have to travel away, I would write to it, phone him or send e-mails to it informing it of my life. Secondly, in order not to let my dearest feel so lonely, I would plant some trees and flowers around it. These plants will brave the hard winters with it. In addition, I would invite some other children to play with it. Their company will surely make the life more colorful.

Therefore, if I were the boy, I would hold the tree dear.

An Old Tree and Little Birds

The fable presents a story to us in which an apple tree sacrificed everything for the boy. The moral of it is that parental love is so infinite that children should be grateful for that. Concerning trees, there is another story of an old tree that I want to share with you. In a valley of a mountainous area, there was an old tree. Many birds built their nests in it. Every spring, the little birds were hatched out. Then the tree would describe the beautiful world across the mountains to these curious birds. Its descriptions of the outside world were so fabulous that the birds were eager to grow up. In autumn, the birds left the tree and went to the world outside the valley. But they didn’t forget the tree and flew back in winter. What’s more, they brought back more stories which the old tree would depict vividly to the other little birds. That’s how the world should be like: the old and the young are devoted to each other.

范文

Treat My Parents Well The fable presents a sentimental story to us in which an apple tree satisfied a boy’s wishes unconditionally. To the tree, nothing was more delightful than the boy’s company. What the tree has done for the boy reminds me of my parents. Like the tree, they would sacrifice everything for me. So I think it my duty to treat my parents with care. First, in daily life, I should express my love and gratitude frequently. To let them know I appreciate what they have done for me is one important way to comfort them. I know words of love count much in making my parents happy. Secondly, I should do whatever I can to help my parents. Although I am busy with my study, I should help with the housework. Just as the saying goes: Actions speak louder than words, I should contribute my part in building up a harmonious family. In short, it is my obligation to treat my parents well.

One morning, a friend of mine set the breakfast table beside a huge window, which overlooked the Tred Avon River. Suddenly she leaned forward and cried out, “There is a goose out there!”

We saw the figure of a large Canada goose, very still, its wings folded tight to its sides and its feet frozen to the ice.

Then in the sky, she saw a line of swans. They flew from the top of the sky downward and at last landed on the ice. My friend was on her feet, with one unbelieving hand against her mouth. As the swans surrounded the frozen goose, she feared that the poor goose might be pecked out by those great swan bills.

Unexpectedly, those bills began to work on the ice. The long necks were lifted and curved down (弯下) again and again. They went on for a long time. At last, the goose was free and standing on the ice. And the swans stood nearby watching. Then, as if the goose was crying, “I cannot fly”, four of the swans came down around it. Their powerful bills chipped off the ice stuck in its feathers. Slowly, the goose spread its wings as far as they would go. Seeing the goose could freely move its wings, the swans flew slowly into the sky.

This is a true story. Every time I think of it, I can’t help asking, “If so for birds, why not for man?”

The passage reminds us to help those who are in trouble and shows us helping others is a good virtue, which one should treasure.

Life is not all roses. No one knows when he or she will be in trouble. The story above reminds me of my personal experience.

There was a time when I performed badly in my maths. It seemed that no matter how hard I tried, I still failed. Upset and disappointed, I fell ill and had to be in hospital for a couple of days. Hearing what had happened to me, Lily, my monitor, came to hospital, helping me with my schoolwork. It was with her aid that I recovered soon and improved myself in maths rapidly. I felt really grateful for what she had done.

From my experience above, I’ve learned that the sincere help between people is of great significance. Only with the care and help of others, can we get out of the difficulties in life and fly again like the goose in the story

On August 26, 1999, New York City experienced a torrential downpour. The rain caused the streets to flood and the subway system almost came to a stop.

Unfortunately, this happened during the morning rush hour. Many people who were going to work were forced to go home. Some battled to call a taxi or to get on a bus. Still others faced the storm bravely, walking miles to get to work.

I happened to be one of the people on the way to work that morning. I went from subway line to subway line only to find that most service had stopped. After making my way through crowds of people, I finally found a subway line that was operating. Unfortunately, there were so many people waiting to board the subway that I could not even get down the stairs to the platform. So I took

the train going in the opposite direction, and then switch back to the downtown train. Finally, after what seemed like a forever, the train reached my stop. Then I had to walk several blocks in the increasingly heavy rain. When I finally got to my office, I was wet through, exhausted and discouraged.

When it was 5:00 pm,I was ready to go home. I was about to turn off my computer when I received an email from Garth, my Director:

I would like to thank all of you who made the effort and eventually reported to work. It is always reassuring(令人欣慰), at times like these, when employees so clearly show their devotion to their jobs. Thank you.

Just as Mike puts it, he managed to get to office after overcoming a lot of difficulties in the downpour, which resulted in his director’s thank for his devotion to his job.

In my opinion, Mike must have been moved because the hardships he experienced and overcame paid off.

I can’t help recalling one of my experiences. In Senior 1, I was so weak in English that I had to turn to my deskmate for help quite frequently. But one day, after reading a book he lent to me, I asked him a question in English, which made him puzzled. Then I told him the detailed position of the question on his book.

What delighted me was that I thanked my deskmate by helping him. Of course, there are varieties of way to thank others like getting greater achievements, helping the helpers, saying “thank you” on the spot, in a letter, on the phone and so on. Although tired and upset, the helper may receive recognition and encouragement.

Honesty is one of the most treasured traditional values in China. The children are taught to be honest when they are very young. At schools the students are also instructed to be honest.

However, with the development of society, we often hear complaints about dishonesty. Reports with the theme of dishonesty often appear in the media. For

example, some people try to get rich and live a comfortable life. But they do not work hard honestly, instead they cheat others. They sell something quite ordinary at a very high price. Some people's delaying paying back the loan can serve as another example. Some people, including some college students, get loan from the bank, and promise to pay within, say, 3 years. However, they don't do that.

The dishonest people sometimes can get benefit from their behaviors. So some people assert that dishonesty can bring people benefit, while honesty only makes people suffer. Is that so? Definitely not. It is always true that honesty is the best policy. It pays to be honest. The cheater selling "the treasure" mentioned above will surely be disclosed and punished some day.

On the contrary, if he had been honest, neither the buyer nor he himself would have suffered. The people who do not return money in time will sooner or later become infamous, and will not get the money from others again. If he had acted differently, he would have earned respect and trust, meanwhile, the bank would not have suffered from loss.

范文

The passage mainly tells us that nowadays many people are dishonest for their own benefit. Because not only they neglect our traditional values, but also they want to escape being punished.

Dishonesty does great harm to our society. It can destroy our good relationship with others, bringing lots of unstable factors to the society. Sometimes, it may even affect people’s health.

Why should we be honest? Firstly, being honest is one of Chinese traditional virtues which we should carry forward. Secondly, friendship is based on honesty. Seeing that the honest person is reliable, most of people are willing to make friends with them. Thirdly, honesty is very important for us to build a harmonious society and realize our spiritual civilization.

As students, we should act honestly every day and never cheat others, including cheat in exams. Besides, we should help those who are dishonest correct their mistakes. Only in this way can we win respect from others.

The fisherman went fishing every day and his wife just stayed at home raising chickens and ducks. They were shut away from the outside world except shopping at the grocer’s.

One autumn, some swans came to the island from the far-away north to live through the winter. As they had been very lonely since they moved here, the old

couple were so glad to see the swans there, so they fed them with small fish and chicken food. Soon, they became very close friends. The swans enjoyed themselves and went out with the old fisherman and saw him fishing. When the lake was frozen, the couple brought them into their hut and gave them food. Even when winter was over, the swans were unwilling to leave away from the fisherman, looking for food on the lake in the daytime and resting on the island at night. The old couple looked after them carefully until spring came when the ice on the lake melted. For many years, the old couple did so. But one day, the old couple became very ill and died. Since then, the swans could not find anybody to take care of them and finally they died of cold when winter came and the lake froze.

范文1

Real love

In the above fable, the old couple has shown us their valuable moral characters of being kind, friendly, considerate and unselfish to the swans, which made them unwilling to leave. ( 30 )

There is no denying that the couple loved the swans so much that they spared no efforts to help the swans. Helpful as it was at that moment, it would gradually weaken the swans’ living ability and cultivated the habit of laziness. Eventually, they took all the help for granted and completely depend on others. In the long run, this kind of love i sn’t the real one. Had I been the couple, I wouldn’t have done the favor to them unconditionally. Instead, I would have forced them to live independently, which might be cruel but would prove to be adequate. The harmful love is to arrange everything perfectly for him while the real love is to give him wings which results in lifelong benefits.

范文2

Love

In the above fable, the old couple has shown us their valuable moral characters of being kind, friendly, considerate and unselfish to the swans, which made them unwilling to leave. ( 30 ) Inspired by the story, I sudde3nly realized the importance of independence. As far as I am concerned, the death of the swans resulted from their over-reliance on the couple. They abandoned themselves in the selfless love and became numb, without planning for their future. Worse still,

they gradually lost their capability of hunting food. Likewise, children nowadays are like pearls in their parents’ palm, which can not experience as much as those in the old days. Therefore, I believe we students should learn to be independent; otherwise we should be struggling the rest of our life.

In some public toilets in Australia, signs have been put up in Chinese to remind Chinese visitors to wash out the toilet after use. In many scenic spots in foreign countries, similar posters ask Chinese people to speak in softer tones.

In China, there are many rude bus passengers who never wait in line for a bus and push hard onto it the moment the bus stops. There are also witnesses to accidents who fail to lend a hand to ot hers. In Beijing, the residents’ impolite, sometimes rude manners are often noted by visitors from all over the world. When talking about these phenomena, it is a shame for all of us Chinese people. “ The success of the 2008 Olympic Games depends very much on showing good manners as on the quality of facilities and players’ performances, ” China’s delegate to the International

Olympic Committee said. “ The fact that some people pay little attention to their manners stands in our way of holding the 2008 Olym pic Games successfully.”Yes, showing our culture and our country’s economic power through this event is important , but good manners should be put at the top of our agenda(议程). 范文

Do Be Polite for ourselves, and for our Country

The passage tells us a phenomenon that many foreign countries have put up signs in Chinese to remind Chinese visitors to behave in good manners. What’s more, the author also indicates that good manners are of great importance to the 2008 Olympic Games.

In my opinion, good manners are not only important to one citizen, but also to the whole country and the nation. I still remember that I once came across a really rude and impolite man. At that time, we were waiting for the same bus and the bus finally came. No sooner had the bus opened its door than he pushed onto it. What’s worse, he knocked down an old man and didn’t even say sorry!

It was really rude and even cruel. This incident not only showed how bad manners the man had, but also told us a serious current situation that some of our citizens lack the sense of being polite.

If the situation continues, it will be a fatal problem to our 2008 Olympic Games and the 2010 Asian Games. So for the sake of our country and the two international Games, do be polite and keep good manners all the time.

Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive(破坏性的), it can lead to problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. And it can make you feel as though you’re at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion. Ange r is “an emotional state the varies in intensity(强度) from mild irritation to intense fury(愤怒) and rage(恼怒),” according to Charles PhD, a psychologist who specializes in the study of anger. Like other emotions, it is accompanied by physiological and billogical changes; when you get angry, your heart rate and blood pressure go up, as do the levels of your energy hormones, adrenalin(肾上腺素), and nor adrenalin(降肾上腺素). Anger can be caused by both external(外部的) and internal (内部的) events. You could be angry at a specific person (such as a coworker or supervisor) or event ( a traffic jam, a canceled flight), or your anger could be caused by worrying or brooding (沉思) about your personal problems. It may have positive or negative influence on humans.

57. According to the passage, the ancestors of the Potter family most probably 【2010上海】70.. As is mentioned in the card, the limitation of the research paper mainly lies in that Which of the following is not true? We can learn/infer from the passage that… Which of the follow ing is NOT mentioned about …? 61. Some people are against killing wolves because . C Food sometimes gets poisoned with harmful things. A person who eats such food can get an illness called food poisoning. Food poisoning is usually not serious, but some types are deadly, The symptoms of food poisoning usually begin within hours of eating the poisoned food. Fever is one of the most common symptoms. Certain microorganisms (微生物) cause most types of food poisoning. Bacteria and other microorganisms can poison eggs, meat, vegetables, and many other foods. After entering the body, these tiny living things release (释放) poisons that make people sick. Some chemicals can also cause food poisoning. They are often added to food while it is being grown, processed, or prepaid. For example, many farmers spray chemicals on crops to kill weeds and insects. Some people may have a bad reaction to those chemicals when they eat the crops. Some plants and animals contain natural poisons that are harmful to people. These include certain kinds of seafood, grains, nuts, seeds, beans, and mushrooms. When people handle food properly, the risk of food poisoning is very small Microorganisms multiply rapidly in dirty places and in warm temperatures. This means that people should never touch food with ditty hands or put food on unwashed surfaces. Food should be kept in a refrigerator to stop microorganisms from gnawing. Meat needs to be cooked thoroughly to kill any dangerous microorganisms. People should also wash food covered with chemicals before eating it.
