People in their sixties should go to university to retrain becaus e they will be expected to work for longer before retirement, the Go vernment has suggested.

Older workers who take courses to keep their skills up-to-date wi ll be more likely to keep their jobs, claims David Willetts, the hig her education minister. He said the age limit on student loans to co ver tuition fees had been lifted, making a degree course “great valu e” for older people. His comments followed a government report which found that the country's future economic success would depend on th e skills and contributions of older workers.

One in four people will be older than 65 by 2033 and economists h ave warned thatthe ageing population will place a heavy burden on ta xpayers unless more people work for longer. The state pension age is to rise to 67 by 2028. Ministers have warned that they have no idea when younger workers in their thirties will be able to retire.

Mr Willetts, who is accompanying David Cameron in India, urged w orkers older

than 60 to give further education serious consideration.“There is ce rtainly a

pressure for continuing to get retrained and upskilled，”he said.“H igher education has an economic benefit in that if you stay up-to-da te with knowledge and skills you will be more employable.”

Mr Willetts said a university course had “wider” benefits, mak ing people more likely to lead healthy lives.“Education is such a go od thing that it is not reserved for only younger people，” he said.“ There will be people of all ages who will want to study. There is great value in lifelong learning.” Under previous rules, students i n England would get a loan to cover tuition fees only if they were y ounger than 54.

Latest figures showed that only 1,940 undergraduates starting co urses last year were older than 60, out of a total of 552,240 studen ts in Britain. Some 6,455 were aged between 50 and 60, according to the Higher Education Statistics Agency.

One Possible Version

We are living in a world in which sharing is so important that we can never emphasize its important too much. By sharing, we can often greatly lessen our s adness and double our happiness.

When it comes to this topic , memories flood into my mind. There was a time when I was caught in the sadness of failing an important exam, my world turned grey and I lost interest in everything until my best friend came up to comfort me. Encouraged and moved by his kindness, I shared my trouble with him ,…which re lived me of troubles soon. Littlie by little I regained my confidence. The fol lowing months witnessed my efforts, and I finally made great progress in anothe r important exams.

As you can see, it was sharing with my friend that helped me out of the dark moment and brought back my confidence. Sharing is beautiful, not only physicall y but also mentally/psychologically.
