16.Describe a holiday you want to go on in the future. You should say: Where you want to go

When you would like to go Who you would like to go with

and explain why you want to have this holiday

Speaking of a holiday that I want to go on in the future, I will definitely say that Italy is my favourite destination of the holiday. I would like to make a seven-day route to have an eye feast of the Alps in the north where is covered with snow all year round and enjoy the beach and sunshine scenery of Sicily Islands in the south. I’d like to arrange a thorough and wonderful holiday plan there with my parents because I consider a family holiday values most. I’ve searched for some detailed information and it is said that the best time of a year to go to Italy is between May and October. Consequently, I think our National Holiday, which is from October 1st to 7th, will be a good choice to go on this family holiday.

I guess the only drawback of this plan is that there will be too many tourists during that time.

I want to have this holiday because my parents never have an experience of going abroad for a travelling so far. This kind of holiday, I hope, could compensate the regret to some extent. Besides that, the exotic scenery and culture will open our mind and relax us. Italy is a classic European country, for my part, it is a kaleidoscope to view the European

world.

17.Describe an experience you spend your time with a child. You should say:

When you spent time with this child Who this child was

What you did together and how you felt about it

I can’t bear staying with a little child. Last week my aunty Laura had to go out for an emergency and she can’t take her two-year old baby girl Lucy out with her and

asked my mother and I to shoulder the responsibility of a babysitter. My mother was occupied with cooking and housework. So, I had to look after her by myself. Her rosy and chubby face was cute, so I poked it now and then. Unexpectedly, I overexerted it a little and she began to cry. Hearing this, my mom shouted at me and scolded me to calm her down. I patted her back and murmured stupid comforting words to her. However, she didn’t stop crying. Then I gave her a toy doll to play with her, she didn’t even look at me at all. Perhaps she recognized the unfamiliar environment and began to look for her mother, she cried more loudly. It upset me. I passed her feeding bottle; she took it and threw it onto the ground. I was very angry with that but I couldn’t say anything since she couldn’t understand it at all. Then my mom came and held her up; she began to stop crying gradually.

I felt frustrated to babysit a young child. As a child, he or she could not understand you at all for reasonable causes. As if you’re governed by him or her because you need to care his or her feelings all the time. It makes me feel tired and annoyed. But I could imagine how our parents got through those days when we are young children.

18.Describe a plan in your life (that is not related to work or study). You should say:

What it was about When you made it How it worked

and how you felt about the result

The biggest plan that I completed in 2016 was learning to play the guitar. It is not like any a plan or a goal related to work or study, which ultimately has to be achieved by external stress. I initiated the plan because I’ve prepared to learn a sort of musical instrument for a long time. I’ve made up my mind to accomplish the goal in 2016 finally. I’ve searched for a lot of detailed information about guitars on the Internet, from how to select a good guitar to how to arrange my daily practice. Then I bought a delicate and special travelling guitar and began on the way of learning it. I signed up an online course and there was a supervisor to help me with my daily practice task. There are the occasions that I was so busy with my work and study that I didn’t want to keep up with

the online course. However, my supervisor always reminded me with my goal and encouraged me to keep practicing. When I finished the course, I found that I could play my favourite songs proficiently. How grateful I am to my supervisor and my perseverance!

I felt a sense of accomplishment about the result of the plan. It made me feel satisfied when I look backwards about what I have done in last year. But obviously,

I possibly couldn’t achieve it without outer supervision. So, I have to learn deeply about what the word “perseverance” really means.

19.Describe an experience that you waited for something. You should say: What you waited for

How long you waited Why you waited for it

and explain how you felt about it

I couldn’t have a better understanding of what wait means if I didn’t experience waiting for the result for my first job interview. At that time, I just graduated from university and got an interview opportunity from a big famous company. I was overjoyed when hearing this. I remembered that there was only one week left for my job interview. I searched for floods of information about the history and major market of the company to fully prepare the interview. On the interview day, I began to know that there are four rounds of interviews before the final result came.

First of all, I had to complete the written test. After that, I had to meet a department leader for face-to-face interview. In the third round, I had to complete a group task with other competitors. Finally, I had the opportunity to confront one of the chief executive with a final brainstorm activity. Fortunately, I won the opportunity for the fourth round. However, they told me to wait for the result in the end. I waited for the offer for two weeks. Yes, I was very confident that there could be an offer waiting for me. Nevertheless, they didn’t call me back. I can’t tolerate the fact that they didn’t give me a feedback, so I called them. They said sorry about the delaying offer but without any explanation. Coincidentally, I had to move to another city for some personal reasons. So I gave up that offer.

I felt unsatisfied without any reasonable explanation for the delaying notification of the offer. I spent so much time preparing and experiencing the interviews so I tolerated with the wait. However, I can’t feel any equal respect from them. Even if I didn’t move to the city I live now, I could still linger on accepting the offer. I suffered a lot from the more than two-week wait.

20.Describe an experience of good service in a shop or restaurant. You should say:

When it happened Where it happened How you felt about it

and explain why you think it was good service

I enjoyed an amazing service when I went to a hot-pot restaurant. It belongs to a famous chain of restaurants. I remembered that it happened on one day two years ago. At that time, I suffered a failure in a relationship. I was very sad but I didn’t want to say anything to anybody or cry for anything. I messed around for two whole days. In the evening on that day, I walked around in a nearby shopping plaza. Suddenly, a sense of hunger came. I had no appetite for any so called normal dishes and I walked into the hot-pot restaurant. The waitress welcomed me warmly and didn’t show any surprise for a single one who would like to have a hot-pot feast. I think she may see through that something bad happened on me from my look. She suggested a wonderful set meal for me and offered some fresh fruits for me. I felt a little bit flattered and began to say a lot of “thank you” back. When I was having the meal, she put a big doll to the opposite of my seat and said: “Enjoying your meal. She is your company. ”

I couldn’t help bursting out laughter. When I checked out, she even gave me a discount and said slowly: “Be happy. Nothing is a big deal but you are. ”

I have to admit that I wanted to cry out for a moment. I felt that I was highly respected, cared and loved by a stranger. She didn’t ask anything but she knew much more than I thought. Yes, nothing is a big deal but you are. Actually, this was the best service I experienced. After leaving the restaurant, I recognized that I was back to the track of normal state suddenly. I will appreciate the experience forever.

21.Describe a well-paid job you would like to do in the future. You should

say:

what job it is;

what qualities are required for this job;

what you would need to learn to get this job; And explain why you would like to do this job.

My dream well-paid job in the future is to be a career adviser. From my perspective, a career adviser is a person who gives detailed suggestions and recommendations to a job hunter, which are based on his or her scientific analyses to those job hunters. Thus, all job hunters don’t need to send their resumes to those companies who will never give them an opportunity for an interview. None of their application is wasted. None of their time is wasted. All job hunters could have an objective overview of their SWOTs. There are no

professional career advisers now, but I think the career of career advisers will welcome its prime time in the future. The job needs me to learn much on psychology, sociology and philosophy, involving related analytic methodologies. Besides that I was required to have the ability to read people and be patient, caring and versatile to take the job.

I’d like to do this job on the account of the fact that the employment market is pretty unstable due to the dynamic economic situations these years. The competition in job market is getting stronger. Almost all of

us have the experience that we are in the struggle of looking for an ideal job now and then. A career adviser could be a cleverest person who knows both the secrets of the job market and assessments of personal values. Their existence means less unemployment.

22.Describe an enjoyable experience you had in the countryside. You should say:

when and where you went; who you went with;

what you did there;

and explain why you think it was enjoyable.

Talking about the enjoyable experience I had in the countryside, I think the childhood experience that I went to my grandparents’ house which is located in a small village in the north of China is a one. I remembered that my mother would take me to visit my grandparents every few years and the visit usually happened in summer holidays. The house had a big yard. And there was a brook behind the house. My grandparents kept two dogs in the big yard. They are adorable. My grandma planted two apple trees. The green apples were always on the tree when I went there every summer. I always begged my grandma to pick them for me to have a taste even if she told me that they would taste badly. I often dropped the apple after one bite. But my grandma was never angry with that. After supper, my grandpa took me to the brook behind the house. He said we could catch a big fish before the moon came out. However, we didn’t catch any fish at all.

The experiences were valuable and wonderful. They are of great importance in my life. Especially after my grandparents passed away, I have no opportunity to go back to the village any more. The memories kept the temperature of my grandparents’ love, and I cherish them very much.

23.Describe a time you disagreed with a decision that others made. You should say:

what decision it was; who made the decision;

whether you told him or her that you disagreed; and explain why you didn’t agree with this decision.

I once met a time that I disagreed with a decision that others made. It happened in a situation where my friends and I have different opinions about selecting a tent for our camp activity. My friends, Sarah and Sandy, they think we should choose a relatively cheap one since we seldom went out for camping. Actually, price is their only consideration when choosing a tent. Finally, they decided to buy a blue one, which is really cheap, well, the quality…I could say that it was a real eye opener for me. It was so light and flabby. And they tried to convince me that the camping location is very safe and we could even enjoy sleeping outside. I strongly disagreed with them. I told them that apart from the safety reason, we should also take health into account. We may be caught with big gales and heavy rains. The weather forecast is a bet that we couldn’t full trust but a good tent could protect us. The bare sleeping outside was often compelled. Finally, we bought another tent.

As poor students, we would like to explore the world with limited money.

I have to admit that budget is what we have to consider most and what often restrict us. But there are much more outweigh the money. I didn’t agree with the decision because I think safety and health are more important compared with the money and utilization rate of a tent.

24.Describe an interesting talk or speech you heard recently. You should say:

when and where you heard it; what the talk or speech was about; who gave the talk or speech;

and explain why you think it was interesting.

I recently heard an interesting talk from an APP of learning English. Last Thursday, I clicked the learning English APP on my phone, and it gave me a daily push notification of a talk. The topic of the talk is fart facts, which is given by a doctor. It raised my interest to listen to it. The talk said fart is a gas coming from our intestines. As long as you eat, there is fart. It comes from your blood and chemical reactions in your body. But actually only 1% of our fart is stinky. Everyone produce about half a liter of farts every day. Yes, the elegant and young girls also fart, too.

It said usually farts aren’t dangerous even if they are flammable ones.

We won’t suffocate in a room full of farts and a continuous fart for 7 years will produce equivalent energy of an atomic bomb. And there is a term of “brain fart”, but it refers to doing something dumb. Fart is even regarded as a sort of greeting in an Indian tribe in South Africa.

I think it was interesting because people are often unwilling to mention about farts, most of us think they are disgusting. But it is a kind of normal physical need and we have many misunderstanding about fart. The doctor explained the fart facts in a humorous and elegant way. It made me laugh out.

25.Describe a time you were not allowed to use your mobile phone. You should say:

when and where it was;

why you were not allowed to use your phone; what you wanted to use your phone for;

and explain how you felt about not being able to use your phone.

Last Monday, I went to visit a famous grand museum that is located in the center of the city. The administrator said that we are not allowed to use our mobile phones and cameras during the visit because taking photographs of exhibitions are not allowed. I obeyed the rules, handed in my mobile phone and other personal stuff and enjoyed the visit. Suddenly, it occurred to me that I didn’t tell my mom that I would be late for home and I took the only keys of my home. She possibly couldn’t get into the

rooms if she came home earlier than me. Then I couldn’t focus on my visit.

I wanted to use my mobile phone to call her. But the workers in the museum told me that they could only return our mobile phones after the visit is over, otherwise they will shoulder the responsibility of any loss of visitors’ stuff. I was worried and restless all the time during the following visit.

This is the first time that I wanted to use my phone so much. I felt a great sense of unease and danger if I lost the contacts by mobile phones. We often say that we rely too much on our electronic devices, but I have to say they are really helpful in all sorts of emergencies.

26.Describe a foreign food. You should say: Which country

What it is

How popular it is in your country

and explain the reason why you like it or not.

Spaghetti and Sushi are two kinds of foreign food I like best. But I prefer Sushi more because making Sushi is easier than Spaghetti. Sushi comes from Japan. They could be made as snacks as well as formal dishes. It tastes fresh and delicious. The fragrance of the rice could arouse the unique taste of the fish along with it. Sushi enjoys great popularity in my

country. Well, as you know, China is not very far from Japan. You could see a diversity of Sushi restaurants in many shopping malls. And Chinese even developed many ways to process Sushi in order to localize their tastes to Chinese people. And more and more other Japanese foods are introduced along with Sushi.

I like Sushi because it was a kind of approachable cuisine. Many top-notch delicious foods are also on the pyramid’s top and ordinary people could not have accesses to them either they need valuable food ingredients or they are too difficult to make. Besides that, Sushi could make you taste several food ingredients at the same time. For a foodie like me, it was so amazing.

27.Describe a book you want to read again. You should say: Where you found it

What it is about

Why you want to read it again.

And explain when you read it for the first time

Well, I think the book I want to read again is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. It was my favorite book. I first read the book when I was in middle school. A friend of mine bought it from the bookstore and she strongly recommended me to read it. At first I was not very interested

because she said it was a book about magic and I thought magic means nonsense. However, when I finally picked up the book, I found that I could not put it down anymore. I was greatly attracted by the book. The book was the first one of the Harry Potter series. It talked about how Harry found out he was admitted by a magic school named by Hogwarts. He met his best friends on the train to the school. They had quite an adventure in the school. The plot of the book was very interesting and I kept wondering what happened next.

The reason I want to read the book again is because I am under great pressure

these days and I think the book can make me relax. Many years have passed and the actors and actresses who played the role in the book have all grown up. But I can always meet the young Harry in the book. I believe it will be fun.

Though I have many friends, my friendship with them grew up with times and mutual understanding. But I can recall that my friendship with George grew up almost all of a sudden. George is senior to me by 2-3 years and I did not meet him until I was in the 4th semester in my University. One of my term final exam's schedules was changed and I did not know that. According to my previous exam schedule I reached my University and was totally confused what to do when I heard that the exam was already over. I went to our Departmental head's office and he could not find a way around of it. He blamed me that I should have been more careful about the changes. I explained him that I was sick and did not come to university for 3-4 days and that made me unaware of the exam schedule changes. Then I found that someone who was sitting next to me in the departmental head's office asked me to meet the course teacher and explain the situation. He then escorted me to our course teacher's room and talked to the teacher. It seemed to me that George was already personally known to our teacher and they had an intimate relationship. Hearing everything the teacher agreed to arrange an exam for me next day in his office room. My friendship with George grew up after that event and albeit our age differences we found that we had many common interests and habits. We started spending time and I visited his home many times. We worked in a retail shop for about 6 months and that helped us become more intimate.

常见的比较关系词: 比较级:more/ less /adj-er than… 同级比较:as…as…/the same as…/equal/ like 试题中若出现以上比较关系词,需标记题中的比较对象(A 、B),并明确比较逻辑(如A比B更聪明),即可快速完成审题。如: 39. It is easier to find meaning in the field of science than in the field of art. 确定比较对象:A – field of science (科学领域)、B – field of art (艺术领域) 2.

具有隐含比较关系的表达: prefer to… compare to/compare with/contrast similar to…/similarly superior to/inferior to unusual 同样,考生在判定题干存在比较关系后,需标记题中的比较对象并明确比较逻辑。如: 35. Teachers say they prefer suggestopedia to traditional approaches to language teaching. – Test 1, Cambridge 7 1.确定比较对象:A –suggestopedia(暗示教学)、B –traditional approaches(传统教学方法) 2. 题干中A、B存在比较关系但原文A、B不存在比较关系时,答案应为未提及——NOT GIVEN。

There are numerous happy events in my life that I can recall and among them I would like to talk about the day that I was blessed with a little sister. This was an event that I still recall vividly. I was then only 7-8 years old and when I saw a little angel was crying on my mother's lap, I became the happiest man in the world.

The subject that I'd like to describe is Physics that was taught in our school. We had this subject in each year of our high school and each year a new teacher used to taught us the subject. Even we had to read physics in college as Science was my major. I remember Mr. Alex, Burter, John, David and Mrs. Jeniffer took Physics in different years. We were lucky to have good Physics teachers who could make the subject interesting and enjoyable. Our teachers used to tell us stories first and then would explain the theory, experiment or math of the text books. They would then relate the story with the study. Later they would explain us the real examples and facts. Sometimes they used to take us to the Physics labs and explain how something works. I have learned numerous things of physics from simple definition of mass to the complex explanation of Einstein's Theory of Relativity. My foundation of physics grew up and expanded with the help of those teachers. The subject itself is utterly interesting if one can have passion for it. It is one such subject that one would start loving it if s/he starts understanding the underlying concepts of it. Physics is all around us and the lesson I learned from my School had helped me greatly throughout my higher academic years. Tips for answering this cue card topic: You should pick a real academic subject like Math, English, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, and Biology to answer this cue card. Then quickly take some notes including the following: 1. In which class was it taught? 2. Do not pick a subject taught in your college or university level as the cue card is asking you to talk about a subject taught in your school. 3. Try to remember a teacher's name. You can mention multiple teachers' name as the same subject in school is taught by different teachers in different classes. 4. Give a short detail what the subject. For example: The Geography would discuss about the Earth, the other planet in the solar system, atmosphere, and climate changes etc. and you should mention those. 5. Next describe how the teacher taught the subject and what things you learned from the class. 6. Mention some interesting things you learned from the class and how the teacher made things easier to understand for you. 7. Describe how interested you were about the subject and the class. 8. Relate how this subject has later helped you/ influenced you in your education and learning process. 9. Finally give a conclusion by mentioning how beneficial the subject for students. If you pick Math try to focus on the following issues: 1. The teacher was very good explaining the intricacies of the subject. 2. You learned many theories and formulas of math. 3. This teacher explained how math would be helpful for the rest of the life and academic years.

We often have guests, visitors and relatives in our home and for special occasions like a birthday party several invited guests come to our home. One such occasion and special guest I remember came to our home 2-3 years back. He was a famous writer and came to our home on occasion of my older sister’s marriage ceremony. He was known to the father of the bridegroom’s senior brother and a well-known figure in our city. His name is Mr. Jonathon Durik (…say a name you like…) and when he arrived all of us recognized him. The marriage ceremony was a big program and almost 200 people attended the ceremony. We had to prepare for the program for about a week before the due date. This ceremony was arranged in our own house and we had been tremendously busy for the occasion. A marriage ceremony is a big arrangement and my parents were very busy as well as sad that my sister would be leaving our house after her marriage. This was a big event and there were lots of things to be done. I had been so busy and had to greet and serve so many guests that I had hard time concentrating. The bridegroom and their relatives arrived and we got even busier. They introduced the guests to us and one of them was Mr. Durik. I greeted him and helped him sitting in a comfortable couch. I got busy with other stuffs and came to the guests time to time to look after if he needed anything. I asked what type of foods he would prefer to eat and took him to the dinning place. I had a short conversation with him
