In Japan’s capital city of Tokyo, earthquake danger limits the height of buildings. The city has spread out so far and the traffic has become so heavy that it is very difficult to go from one place to another. The price of the land, too, has skyrocketed. Watch a good teacher, and you will see that he does not sit motionless (不动的) before his students. He stands the whole time he is teaching; he walks about, using his arms, hands and fingers to help him in his explanation, and his face to express feelings. As the first report of the accident came in, Burton was sitting in his office on the top floor of the building. Immediately, realizing the seriousness of the whole accident, he moved to a ground floor room with a small waiting-room to look into the matter himself, leaving his

second-in-command (副手) to take over all other cases.
