What would you like to be when you grow up? A teacher? A doctor? An astronaut? What do you need to do to achieve your dream job? Perhaps you think that studying well and then going on to work hard will get you successful career you want. We are constantly taught that our hard work will eventually pay off.

But a government survey has shown that hard work is not the only thing that will help you to move up the ladder. Two thirds of people believe that who you know matters more than what you know when it comes to social activity. So are the connections that you have more important than your education?

76% of the people in the survey believed that family background is important in influencing your chances of success. They believe that if you are privileged from birth, you are more likely to have a successful career, especially if your family is wealthy.

Even if you don’t have a privileged background, the people you know can still make a difference to your career. Networking is a skill which is encouraged by many career advisers. Some companies run networking workshops to try and encourage staff to meet other people, to communicate and build relationships. It’s a valuable skill.

But the survey also showed something quite interesting. Although most people believed that networks are more important than education, many people put their own career success down to talent, rather than background. 41% of the people said that their parents’ income had influenced their life, but at the same time, another 41% believed that they had achieved their own success.

So which is more important, what you know or who you know? It seems that by working hard and making lots of connections, the answer may be that both are very important.

A storm swept through several villages in Texas last week, destroying sixteen homes. Seven others were so badly damaged that their owners had to leave them, and fifteen others had broken windows or broken roofs. One person was killed, several were badly hurt and taken to hospital, and a number of other people received smaller hurt. Altogether over two hundred people were homeless after the storm.

A farmer, Mr. Tan, said that the storm began early in the morning and lasted for over an hour.

"I was eating with my wife and children," he said, "when we heard a loud noise. A few minutes later our house fell down on top of us. We tried our best to climb out but then I saw that one of my children was missing. I went back inside and found him, safe but very frightened."

Mrs. Woo Mei Fong said that her husband had just left for work when she felt that her house was moving. She ran outside at once with her children.

"There was no time to take anything," she said, "A few minutes later, the roof came down."

Soldiers helped to take people out of the flooded area and the welfare department brought them food, clothes and shelter.

In order to help customers find what they want quickly, it's important to keep the thousands of titles in the Main Street Movies store organized properly. This section will tell you how to organize videos.

Each Main Street Movies store has three main sections:

1. New Releases Wall

2. Film Library

3. Video Games

New Releases Wall. Almost 70 percent of movie rentals (租赁) are new releases, and that is the first place that most customers go when they enter the store. The center section of shelves on this wall holds Hottest Hits. When new titles come into the store, place them on this wall in alphabetical (字母的) order. After 30 days, move the Hottest Hits titles to the shelves on either side called Recent Releases, again in alphabetical order. Titles stay on these shelves eight to ten months before being moved to Film Library shelves.

Film Library. Thousands of titles in the Film Library are organized into categories (类别). The films within each category are displayed alphabetically. Here are the categories and

Video Games. Games in our store are also arranged together, in alphabetical order. Although video games represent only a small percentage of our inventory ( 存货), they are stolen more often than any other type of videos in our store. Therefore, video games are never displayed on the shelves. Shelves in the Video Games section hold cards with pictures and information about each game. When a customer wants to rent a particular game, he or she will bring you the card. You then get the game from the locked case behind the counter

( 柜台), and file the card in the “Video Game Rentals” box. When the game is returned, you put the card back on the appropriate shelf so that it is available for another customer.

高二英语期中考试试卷分析 一、试卷总体情况分析 本次期中考试试卷主要考查英语模块3所学内容，试卷总分150分。试题内容丰富，知识覆盖面广，题型较多，包括听力、完形填空、阅读理解、语法填空、短文改错和作文，和高考题型保持一致。考点知识既源于教材，又聚焦高考，全面考查了学生读、写等方面的能力。试卷以新课程理念为指导，既关注高考，又强调知识与能力并重。总体而言，试卷难度稍微偏大了点，下面以我校英语考试为抽样分析样本，对本次试卷做一个简要的分析。 二、学生各项题型得分情况及主要失分点分析 （一）试卷各大题得分情况统计（如下表）： 从表中的数据看，阅读得分相对好一点，但也不是很理想，所以我们平时要重视基础知识；而完形填空、阅读理解这两项综合运用题的得分不高，高一学生语篇语境理解的能力较弱，综合运用能力差在
