When I was a college student, I did a lot of traveling abroad. That was because a professor 16 me to do so. She said, ―Now is the time for you to travel around the world, 17 your knowledge through actual experiences and have fun !‖ I 18 her.

Since I started to work for a 19 company, however, I have done most of my traveling through the Internet. By using the Internet, I have seen

the 20 of many cities on my computer screen. And I have really made business 21 ,too. With the help of the Internet, I have also

They seem to be losing out on a good chance to 32 and talk with other people. I do not think that they are taking good advantage of information technology. We should use

information technology as a tool to make our daily 33 more fruitful. However, we should never let it 34 our time for face-to-face communication. Let’s make use of information technology more 35 , and have great fun in experiencing the actual world.

Doctors say anger can be an extremely damaging emotion, unless you learn how to deal with it. They warn that anger can lead to heart disease, stomach problems, headaches, emotional problems and possibly cancer.

Anger is a normal emotion that we all feel from time to time. Some people express anger openly in a calm reasonable way. Others burst with anger, and scream and yell (咆哮). But other people keep their anger inside. They can not or will not express it. This is called repressing anger.

For years many doctors thought that repressing anger was more dangerous to a person’s health than expressing it. They said that when a person is angry, the

brain releases the same hormones (荷尔蒙). They speed the heart rate, raise blood pressure, or sugar into the blood, etc. In general, the person feels excited and ready to act.

Some doctors say that both repressing and expressing anger can be dangerous. They believe that those who express anger violently may be more likely to develop heart disease, and they believe that those who keep their anger inside may face a greater danger of high blood pressure.

Doctors say the solution (解决办法) is learning how to deal with anger. They say the first step is to admit that you are angry and to recognize the real cause of the anger, then decide if the cause is serious enough to get angry about. If it is, they say, ―Do not express your anger while angry. Wait until your anger has cooled down and you are able to express yourself calmly and reasonably.‖Doctors say that a good way to deal with anger is to find humor in the situation that has made you angry. They said that laughter is much healthier than anger.

―I have a regular film camera but I just don’t use it much,‖ said Ms Lowery, 23, a computer programmer. ―When I got married last year, I had all these pictures

that didn’t come out right. With digital cameras, you aren’t spending money on film for wasted pictures,‖ she said.

There are plenty of models from which to choose: from simple

$ 200point-and-shoot snappers to $ 1,000 wonders with all the qualities that any advanced amateur (业余爱好者)could want. The wide selection is a sure sign tha t in many buyers’ minds, digital cameras have risen from mere gadgets to must-have items.

Digital cameras offer more than just the instant previewing of pictures on small color screens. They can store dozens, sometimes hundreds, of pictures that can be printed easily at home or sent by e-mail. Although there are extra costs-the cost of memory cards for storage and the special paper for printing—many buyers have been willing to make the switch.

Although about 90 percent of American households still use film cameras, digital cameras are capturing a growing share of the market. And the number of digital-camera households, now at about 10 percent, is certain to grow, as producers introduce more and more cameras whose quality is as good as film cameras. Soon, even professionals will use them.

Salesmen expect digital cameras to be popular gifts this holiday season. ―They are very hot this year,‖ said Yossi Fogel at B& H Photo in New York. ―The prices have come down and the quality has gone up. Who wants to travel with 30 rolls of film ? With a large memory card to store pictures, you can shoot and shoot and never have to worry about changing a roll. How many times have you missed a picture because you failed to reload the film ?‖

40.Which of the following is NOT an advantage of the digital camera over the film camera ?

A.The user has to spend additional money for it.

A Train Floating On Air

A train that floats on air? It’s not magic –it’s magnets(磁). And it’s close to reality.

In Virginia USA the fall of 2002, a train with no wheels traveled on air and carried college students across their campus. In Japan, a whisper – quiet railway engine hovered and raced at 350 miles per hour using magnets and electricity as the power. And in China, a magnet train line linked Shanghai with nearby Pudong Airport.

These trains use magnetic levitation(悬浮)technology, ―maglev‖ for short. They use the same rules as the magnets you pick up at home or school: opposite poles of magnets attract each other, and like poles repel each other.

How does it work?

Powerful magnets on the bottom of the train repel magnets on the track, which is actually just a magnet – filled guiding way. With a magnetic field of sufficient force, the train will go hovering on air, which seemed impossible to us in the past.

When an electrical current is sent through the track, the train moves. Turn the current backwards and the train slows down.

Maglev doesn’t r ely on the friction(摩擦力)of wheels on track, so it can climb a much steeper hill than a traditional train. And it can travel easily in snow and ice, something that could bring normal trains to a screaming stop.

43.This passage is about .

A.maglev B.magnets C.levitation D.electricity

44.Which of the following is a repelling action?

A.B.C.D.

45.What can we learn from the text?

A.A magnet – filled guiding way is formed inside a maglev train.

B.Instead of electricity, magnets are used as the power of a maglev. C.Maglev trains can climb hills with the help of magnet wheels.

D.Electric currents decide the movements of a maglev train.

46.What is the difference between a maglev train and an ordinary train? A.A maglev train can climb mountains without power while an ordinary one can’t

B.A maglev train can travel in college campus while an ordinary train is not allowed.

C.Travelling without a track, a maglev train is safer and smoother than an ordinary one.

D.Floating on a track, a maglev train is faster, quieter than an ordinary railway train.
