The Thing I Regret Most in My Life

When I was a little girl, maybe I was the most naughty child in the neighbourhood who always made more trouble than I should, like breaking the window next door, being involved in dangerous things like climbing trees and showing no respect for adults. My mom was always worried about me but I just wouldn't listen to her, until one day, one special day that I would never forget.

It was a sunny afternoon in a summer holiday. The sun was shining brightly and white clouds were floating in the blue sky. I wanted to go out and have fun with my friends in such a lovely day, which was not allowed by my mom. "I want to go out, mom. It is summer holiday! "I said to my mum. " You are not allowed to go out until you finish your homework, sweetie. You haven't written a word for over a week. "My mom answered in a serious way. I was very unhappy about such an arrangement. But as my mom was still at home, it let me no choice but listen to her.

But after she went out to work, I counldn't sit on my chair for more than 1 minute. So I put my homework away and went out to find my friends immediately and then spent the whole afternoon with them.

And when I came back home at about 5 p. m. ,my mom still hadn't come back yet. Thinking that if she found out what I have done this afternoon, she would be very angry at me, I began to feel worried about it and just wanted to escape away. Then I made a decision I regretted very much. I took my video game and went upstairs to stay in the rooftop. I was soon so involved in the game that I totally forgot the time. So when I realized it was getting dark and I had played over time again, I knew that I must have made a big mistake.

I would never forget what I saw when I went downstairs in my whole life. My mom was sitting in the floor, crying without a voice as her heart had been broken. My dad was comforting her, with his eyes getting red. When they saw me, they hugged me very tightly without saying anything as they had lost their words. It was at that moment that realized how anxious they felt when they thought I got lost and how sad they felt when I made a wrong choice.

It was only when we risk losing something that we truly find its value. I was sorry for the things I've ever done, which put my parents though so much. What happened that day made me realize how much love and concern I got from my parents and I felt shamed that I had always taken all these for granted.
