Anqing is a famous city in the southwest of Anhui province. As we all know, it's a port city lying on the north bank of the mid-lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Anqing is a city has a history of nearly 800 years. In the Dongzhou period, Anqing was the seat of the "Wan" country, from which the short term "Wan" for Anhui province is derived. Established in 1217, Dongjing Dynasty, the renowned poet, Guo Pu, noted that Anqing was a very livable city; hence it is also referred as Yicheng (Chinese words for livable city). Anqing was the capital city and the center of politics,economy and culture in Anhui province from 1760 to 1938. Many celebrities made their home in the area such as Fang Yizhi, the famous ideologist of the Ming Dynasty, Deng Shiru, seal-cutting calligrapher of the Qing Dynasty, Cheng Changgeng, the originator of the Beijing Opera, Zhang Hengshui, the novelist, Zhao Puchu, the master of Buddhism, Deng Jiaxian, a man of great merit in the field of the a-bomb and h-bomb; Chen Duxiu, the founder of CPC, Huang Zhen, a General and diplomat, Yan Fengying, a famous Huangmei Opera artist, as well as many others.

Anqing is an excellent National Tourisom City with beautiful mountains and rivers and rich in nature resources. The most important places are national 4A-grade scenic spots named Tianzhu mountain and Jiuhua mountain, Tianzhu Mountain’s Gualuo Seed is the China's national geographic mark product protection varieties. But there are also some other beautiful places such as Wenmiao,Zhenfeng Tower, Xiaogu mountain and Dalong mountain.

Anqing is the national important grain, cotton, oil, aquatic products and livestock production base, is the anhui province important petroleum chemical industry, automobile parts manufacture and textile industry base. It was originally set up in the name of Jiangnan Provincial Administration Government in 1667 AD,taking its government seat in Nanjing due to the division of the Jiangnan (what is now Anhui ,Jiangsu, and Shanghai.) into East and West. Later, its name was changed into Anhui Provincial Administration Government ,which comes from the two first letters of Anqing Prefecture and Huizhou Prefecture ,and the government seat was moved to Anqing . The Republic of China then follow its suit ,setting Anhui Province. Anhui ,an offshore province lies in the eastern China.Both the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in the south（about 416kilometers）and the middle reaches of the Huaihe River(about 430 kilometers) in the north run across the province,which divides the whole province into three different regions: the north of Huaihe River, the region between the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River, and Jiangnan area.
