Grandma stopped her truck at a crossroads and had the window down to enjoy the light wind. Suddenly, a man rushed up to the driver’s side window, trying to rob her truck.

However, the man didn’t know that this woman simply wasn’t your normal kind of

grandma. This was Nancy Johnson—who owned a big farm in Texas, drove her own truck and had even shot a snake recently.

With one hand in his pocket, the man said, “Get out of the truck. I have a gun and I will shoot you.” To his surprise, Grandma saw it as a joke. “If you really had a gun in your pocket, you would have pulled it out,” she said, looking the man straight in the eye.

Here are two interesting questions. Are you very happy with your life now ? Are people happier as they get older? A study found that people generally become happier and experience less worry after age 50. In fact, it found that by the age of 85, people are happier with their life than they were at 18.

The finding came from a Gallup survey of more than 340,000 adults between the age of 18 and 85 in the United States.

Arthur Stone in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Stony Brook University in New York led the study. His team found that levels of stress were highest among adults between the ages of 22 and 25. Stress levels dropped sharply after people reached their fifties.

Happiness was highest among the youngest adults and those in their early seventies. But the people least likely to report feeling negative emotions were those in their seventies and eighties. The survey also found that men and women had similar emotional patterns as they grow older. However, women at all ages reported more sadness, stress and worry than men did.

The researchers also considered possible influences like having young children, being unemployed or being single. But they found that influences like these did not affect the levels of happiness and well-being related to age.

So why would happiness increase with age? One theory is that, as people get older, they become more thankful for what they have and have better control of their emotions. They also spend less time thinking about bad experiences.

The original goal of the study was to confirm the popular belief that aging is connected with increased sleep problems. The survey did find an increase during middle age, especially in women. But except for that, people reported that they felt their sleep quality improved as they got older.

Parents can begin good organization (条理) habits with preschool-age kids. Experts recommend asking them to do small, simple actions on a regular basis with the help of parents. Maybe they open their bags and bring their lunch bag to the kitchen, or take their shoes off at the door and put them in a nearby closet. Organization gives kids the chance to make it possible to focus on a task and complete it. Kids tend to be more motivated to learn organization skills if they see organization as a challenge to overcome, rather than a fault to repair.

高中英语期中考试总结 导读：期中考试已经结束，静下心来好好总结这两个多月的教学，有成功之处，也有不足的地方。特将此总结如下： 首先针对本次期中考试，我反思一下自己的不足和改进措施：本学期我担任高二（7）班和高二（8）班的英语，为了更好的完成后半个学期的教学工作，特对本次考试做一下总结。 7、8班在文科班中分别列为第一、第二名，也绝大高于其他理科班；因为7班我是后来接手的，孩子们基础相对比其他班要好，也都很听话，这次成绩考的也还相对这个学校来说不错；8班相对上次月考来说是有进步的，有一个及格的整体也有了提高还算是欣慰的。但对于平均分40多分给我的打击也是挺大的，所以针对这个分数结合平时的学习状况我也进行了反思，主要有以下问题： 1 、其中存在的最大问题是学生们基础太差，基本上可以说是零基础。他们写的作文经常主宾不分，词性不分，话不成句句不成章，比如： I is Lihua。或是I like she。我真的高估了学生的水平，小学生都会写的作文他们都不会，看来真得"从头"开始了。 2、学生做题时过于马虎，没有很好地培养学生的做题技巧。比语法填空题：好不容易会填一个空，忘了首字母要大写了，白白失分，对他们也算是个教训吧。 3、课后反馈工作做的不到位。学习是一个过程，学生也许当时学懂了，但过一会就会忘记，我没有及时让他们背诵记忆和复习，而

是培养他们自觉去背去复习，过高评价了学生的自学能力。而且对于四中的学生来说，几乎大多数人是完全没有自学能力的，所以就更得靠我的督促和引导了，以后多注意这方面的'问题。 4、忽视了学生的知识运用能力。尤其是最近讲课的时候发现一 个问题，讲词语造句的时候，当时一起领着大家说能明白，让学生自己站起来说就不会了，他们只是把知识死记住了，并没有明白如何去使用词语造句子，所以我更应该注意教会学生们去灵活地运用知识，而不是死记硬背。 5、做不出题，缺少练习。平时我们注重的是课文的谅解以至于 学生们一看到题就束手无策做不出来，也不想做，这就是平时练的少，太生疏了，应该多学多练，练的多了自然而然的也就会了。 针对学生们这种零基础以及课堂情况，我决定采取以下措施改进： 1、让学生们写下反思以及对自己的意见或建议，及时发现自己 的不足及时改正，师生共同进步。找一些个别学生谈谈心，及时给予鼓励与信心，不是学习英语的信心。 2、认真设置课堂教学环节，充分发挥学生的潜能。注重学生的 只是运用能力，让学生说，做，真正学到知识。 3、每天督促、检查、反馈。确保学生能真正掌握，扎牢知识。 4、多和其他岗友交流，及时交换意见，相互改进共同进步。 其次，我谈一谈在教学中的随感。 一、词汇教学中，教师要特别注意教学方法，有的学生不认识音

2016高二英语期中考试质量分析 高二英语期中考试质量分析 高二英语期中考试质量分析下学期高二英语期中考试顺利结束了，学生的分数和预期得有所偏差。为了对将来题及教学有所裨益，特对本次考试的情况进行如下分析。 一、试题评价： 试卷与高考题同型，涵盖了听力理解20分，英语知识运用10分，完形填空10分，阅读理解30分，摘录信息10分，回答问题5分，书面表达15分，总分100分。知识点分布在Module 5整本书上，以《导学案》为基础出题，试题难度还是比较适合学生的。 二、学生对各题得分情况分析： 1. 听力理解得分不高，尤其是听力填空，五空最多填对两空。 2. 单项选择题，是考查学生的语法基础知识题，此次命题，考察了学生词的辨析、语法、习语等语言知识，以及在特定的语境中运用语言知识进行交际的能力。此题知识覆盖面较广,重难点比较突出，注重了语言能力考察,以《导学案》上老师讲过的知识点为主稍做改动。学生在这题失分较多，反映出学生对基础知识的把握有所欠缺，教师在课堂中多次重点讲解过的知识，学生还是没能很好地掌握。以后在语法的教学过程中要加强同一知识点的反复且多样性的练习。 3. 完型填空题，主要考察学生对文章的整体理解及上下文的推理能力，牵涉到语感、语法及单词,以及对语言知识的综合运用能力,对学生提出了更高的要求。学生答这道题时,不仅要读懂整个语段,而且要选对所给的词,并对上下文进行融会贯通,学生在答此 题时顾此失彼, 失分较多,此题是整份试题难点之一。但从得分情况来看，这次完型不是太难，一般学生能得到好的分数。当然有些题目，学生不会使用排除法来进行答题。而答题中，排除法是一个很重要的答题技巧，学生一定要彻底掌握的，我们教师，在日常的教学中要反复多练，务求使学生在以后的应试中能够灵活运用。 4. 阅读理解，此题考察学生是否能够识别选择归纳所提供的信息，探索语篇中的表层含义和深层含义，并根据上下文进行合理的理解、进而进行推理归纳总结等思维活动，从而获得正确的语言信息、对问题作出正确的选择。本大题包括阅读3篇文章并选择正解的答案，从得分的实际情况来看，大部分学生的英语基础确实令人担忧。而第1篇文章较为简单是得分点；但##第3篇文章因为稍微有点难度，失分非常严重且不少同学一分未得，这体现了学生们对于稍难文章的理解能力非常薄弱。这部分题，也一直是学生失分的一个重点。 根据我对学生的调查，学生反应的主要问题在，第一是单词不认识；第二是在不少情况下，单词认识了，句子却看不懂；。第三是没有时间看文章答题。再有就是文章的分析归纳理解能力不行。根据近几年高考趋势，阅读文章篇幅都偏长，但题目很简单。因此，我有必要在以后的教学中有一定的针对性，教给学生基本的阅读技巧和技能。 5.摘录信息题，相对比较简单，较差的学生都能得到6分。 6．回答问题，没有学生全对，有少部分学生甚至做都没做。 6.书面表达，此次作文是以一单元学的友谊为基础出的一篇介绍朋友的文章，是一篇好写并且有话可写的文章，但个别同学在语言的灵活应用上欠功夫，不能够把自己所学的知识恰当地运用到作文中去 ,且中式英语较重, 语言表达不地道, 语法错误较多，对使用课本中优美的英语句子进行模仿写作的能力无法很好地掌握。还有很少几个同学没写作文，态度十分不端正。 三、今后的教学中应改进的措施。 通过这套试卷的分析，我个人认为，我在以后的教学中，应该在以下几外方面有所加强。
