时间状语从句之知识清单

一．认识连接词

时间状语从句的常见引导词：when, while, as , before ,after ,since , till, until, as soon as

时间状语从句的特殊引导词：（一……就……）

1.一些时间名词：the moment, the instant, the minute, the second;

2.一些副词：instantly, immediately, directly

3.固定搭配的连词：no sooner---than, hardly---when, scarcely---when

二．连接词分类讲解

1.when+短暂动词

1）意思相当于： (在---时刻/时候)

如：

a. I’ll speak to him when he arrives

b.I’ll tell him about it when he comes back.

c.When I arrived , he was talking on the phone.

d.When I got there, he had already left.

------期间。

e.The doorbell rang when I was telephoning.

2)whenever也可引导时间状语从句

a.Wheneve r someone asks you something you don’t want to answer, smile and ask”why do you want to know?”

b.Smile whenever you pick up the phone, for the caller will be able to notice it.

3）when的常见的三个句型：

A

I was about to go out when someone came.

I was doing my homework when my good friend, Xiaoming, came.

I had finished my homework when my good friend, Xiaoming, came.

D.I was walking along the road suddenly someone patted me on the shoulder from behind.

2.While+延续性动词

意思相当于： (在---期间)

a.The phone rang while I was taking my bath.

b.The door bell rang while we were watching TV.

3.Until

1)

a.Wait until he comes back.

b.We’ll stay here till it stops raining

c.Until I came back ,he was waiting for me at my home..

2)

结构。例如：

a. I did not realize how special my mother was until I became an adult.

b. One will never realize how much and how little he knows until he starts talking.

c. Ice cream did not reach American until about the middle of the eighteenth century.

d. I didn’t go to bed until 12 o’clock last night.

3)”not---until---”有四种不同的句式。

A.正常结构：

a. The little boy didn’t smile until he saw his mother.

b. The exact time of dying was not of great importance until recently.

B.until 置于句首

a. Until he saw his mother, the little boy didn’t smile.

b. Until recently the exact time of dying was not of great importance.

a. Not until he saw his mother did the little boy smile.

b. Not until recently was the exact time of dying of great importance.

a. It was not until he saw his mother that the little boy smiled.

b. It was not until recently that the exact time of dying was of great importance.

基本结构：it is+被强调成分+that……

常见的被强调的成分：主语，宾语，表语，状语，包括各自相应的从句。

强调方法：强调什么成分，就把什么成分放在that前面，其他成分不动。

I met Liyan in the street yesterday.

It was me that met Liyan in the street yesterday.

It was Liyan that I met in the street yesterday.

It was in the street that I met Liyan yesterday.

It was yesterday that I met Liyan in the street.

What you said is right.

It is you said is right.

I don’t know what you said .

It is what you said that I don’t know.

The fact is that he often walks here.

Put the book where you can see it.

It is where you can see it that you put the book.

He came late this morning because he stayed up late last night.

★强调not……until……句型

The little boy didn’t smile until he saw his mother.

方法：把not放在until前面，然后与until从句一块再放在that前面。主句谓语动词在用相应的时

态表达出来。

It was not until he saw his mother that the little boy smiled.

★强调特殊疑问词。

Where did you go yesterday?

方法：把特殊疑问词放在最前面，然后采用疑问语序，原句则改为陈述语序。即构成句型：特殊疑问词+is/was it that 主+谓

Where was it that you went yesterday?

谓语动词的强调：

方法：一般只强调一般现在时与一般过去时的谓语动词，所借助的是主动词do、does、did，助动词后用动词原形。

Yesterday I came here along.

Yesterday I did come here along.

He go home by bike everyday.

He does go home by bike everyday.

4.表示“一---就---”

表示“一---就---”的连词有：

a.We will leave as soon as it stops raining.

b.It began to rain as soon as/the moment/the second/ the instant/the minute /immediately, directly/instantly I arrived home.

c.Don’t trust those who leave their friends the moment they get into difficulty!

d.You see the lightning it happens, but you hear the thunder later.

a. No sooner had I arrived home than it began to rain.

b. Hardly/Scarcely had I arrived home when it began to rain.

c. No sooner had we begun having dinner than the doorbell rang.

d. I had hardly/scarcely arrived home when it began to rain.(考查方式同上，仅仅语序不倒装)

5.表示时间的短语引导的时间状语从句

有一些表示时间的短语也可当作连词来用，引导时间状语从句：

a. The day he returned , his father was already dead.

关注：by the time

By the time 意思是“在---之前或到------时候”，强调的是“一个动作在另外一个动作之前已经完成”，因此，by the time 后边接从句，而与其搭配的主句要用完成时态。注意下句时态搭配：

before 从句是高考中的一大热点，注意它的含义：

eg.It will be two years before we graduate from this school.

The American Civil War lasted four years before the North won in the end

eg.He made a mistake, but then he corrected the situation before it got w orse.

She had made everything ready before I came.

注意：

在包含before和after的复合句中，因为从句动作和主句动作发生的先后顺序已经非常明确，可以用一般过去时代替过去完成时。

翻译规律：

在肯定句中一般翻译成“…（主句的动作）才…（从句的动作）”，如①；或“还没有…（从句的动作）就…（主句的动作）”，如题②。

since 注意since的两大含义：

a.She’s been off work since Tuesday.

b.We’s lived here since 1994.

c.Cath hasn’t phoned since she went to Berlin.
