在生活中，或许我们想要得到一个苹果，父母给的不一定是甘甜的果实而是一颗苹果树苗，或许我们想到喝一杯热汤，可是父母给的是一只盛汤的碗而不是直接给你一碗美味的汤，或许长大了想要一台游戏机，或许父母会给你列一张做家务来或许零花钱的清单，而不是直接给你游戏机。我们都知道，尽管我们没有直接得到想要的苹果，热汤还有游戏机，但是显而易见我们都会得到这些梦想得到的东西。但是有时候，我们往往做的事跟我们脑子里思考的不一样。也就是是说，有时候，我们不能安心地等待，反而是半途而废。在得到苹果前必须种植树苗，给树苗浇水施肥，看着它日日长大，最后才能得到果实。在喝到美味的热汤之前，我们必须站起来离开餐桌，自己去取才能喝到想要的汤。在拥有一台游戏机之前，我们必须打扫家人的房间洗脏衣服打扫客厅。多少人一看到这样繁琐的事便开始放弃他们所要追求的。于是他们便看不到希望，甚至就以为是永远不会得到，其实他们只要在多坚持那么一下就可以收获，就因为那时候的轻言放弃所以才永远不会得到。
在我认为，这不叫得不到，而是错过。错过想要的苹果热汤还有游戏机。或许还有更加残酷的，就是像故事中的主人公一样，错过了陪伴父母的时光。在一开始他认为父亲并没有买他想要的汽车给他，一气之下他生气的离开了。并固执地选择不再看看是否父亲以另一种方式给他想要的车。所以在那时候失去这部车，最终也失去了与父母相聚的时光。如果当初，他能够平和地接受父亲赠给他的那本《圣经》，他能够去有顺序地阅读，他在最后便会发现其实他想要的车钥匙，就在自己的身边。那样就不会造成一生的后悔。
所以，在我们追求梦想的道路上，必须要坚持我们所想要的东西和想要变成的那种人，即使在路上，你想要的东西并没有按照你认为正确的方式来临，别放弃。它也不会是错的，只是需要你等一等。否则，遗憾将会伴随我们终身。有多少次我们错失了圣灵的祝福和祈祷的回应，只因为它们没有按照我们想象地来到。
[提纲] 首先，用在生活中的例子去解释描述故事的主题。然后再把例子和主题结合起来做一个总结，最后再谈一谈从这个故事中我得到的启发。
